The Vow She Never Broke

I am my mother's daughter
My hips,my lips, the tips and the dips
All bestowed on me through a bloodline so rich
The melanin she traded still runs through my veins
The mistakes, the regrets, the messed up life she made feel so sane
The heritage, the sweat for which I feel no shame
It's hers,a girl,a woman,a mother,a wife a person with no lame,excuses
With all the crying and the deuces
It's no surprise she said honey don't ever take bullshit
I got you like till forever but that don't mean you ain't gotta ever do shit

The doors she opened with the words she spoke
The power she gave me with the space she took
Everything is divine and she keeps me woke
She has a past we know she lived it so what now bro?

To love and behold remember that's a vow she has never broke
Even with needles in her arms and misery in her eyes she still knows, yes she knows
She's nothing but human we burst out to and fro
But she holds it together, breaks down whenever, unapologetically a go getter with so much growth.

She taught me well, she said it's best never to kiss and tell
Move like a chess piece if they snark can't let them bite me
Everything I am just know she made me that beast, she built me up like a goddess from Greece.
I AM MY MOTHER'S DAUGHTER.
