Chapter 16: New York

When I look out my window

And I when I look in my window
So many different people to be
That it's strange, so strange

A year. It had been a year since Billy died and Stu escaped. A year since they turned on her and tried to kill her.

Since then, Lilly graduated and moved to New York after getting into the New York Film Academy. Far away from California and Woodsboro.

For the first few months after Stu escaped, Lilly was constantly looking over her shoulder. Afraid he'd pop out and try to kill her again.

~Flashback~

"Lilly, calm down. He's probably long gone. He's not stupid enough to come back." Sidney assures Lilly as they sit at the fountain in front of the school.

Lilly shakes her head, "He will come back, Sid. One thing about Stu is: when he wants something, he will stop at nothing to get it."

"But, why do you think he'll come back to hurt you? Doesn't he love you?" Sidney asks, "He told me, he did it all for you."

"Sid, if he loved me, he wouldn't have let Billy hurt me. He wants to kill me, I'm sure of it." Lilly sighs as she pulls out the picture of her and Stu from her bag.

Sidney looks at her with a frown, "Do you miss him?"

Lilly's eyes start to well up with tears, "I don't know. I don't know how to feel, Sid." She starts to cry, making Sidney pull her close to her. "I thought he loved me, Sid."

Sidney strokes her hair, soothingly. "I know, Lilly. I thought the same with Billy."

~End Flashback~

There was no sign of Stu but that didn't stop Lilly from taking precautions. Switchblade, pepper spray, and even a stupid whistle. She had no other option, those were the only ones in stock.

She lived in an off-campus apartment that Hank helped her get as an apology for his affair and for what Billy did. Nothing fancy, just a two-bedroom apartment with a nice view of the city.

Along the way, Lilly had met Jason Gage. A film major, just like her. Tall, tan, and handsome. Dark hair, green eyes, cute smile, he had it all.

They weren't official since Lilly was still hesitant because of Stu. She hasn't had sex since Stu, of course, she's done other things with Jason but it was almost like she knew that no one would make her feel like Stu did.

"Jace..." Lilly gently pushes away his hands from his belt, "I can't."

Jason sighs in disappointment as he removes himself from her and sitting down on the couch where they were at. "Are you still..." He trails off.

Lilly sits up and looks at him with sorrowful eyes, "I'm just scared, okay? I'm scared that if I give myself to you, you'll turn on me too."

"Lilly, sweetie, you know I wouldn't do that." Jason assures as he gently strokes her cheek. "I don't even like horror movies."

Lilly giggles softly, "It's not just that, Jace." She shakes her head, "I'm scared that if I let my guard down, he'll find me."
