Ruby woke the next day in her team's dorm room to the familiar sound of Yang's snoring. All around her were the familiar decorations of the room she shared with her old teammates. 'Well that's one thing that I didn't miss.' Ruby thought to herself as she sat up and disembarked from her bunk bed, trying and failing to be quiet enough to not wake Weiss or the others. She wasn't successful. "Ruby?" Weiss asked groggily as the thump of Ruby landing on the floor woke her from a dreamless sleep.
"Sorry Weiss." Ruby responded with a whisper as she sheepishly tiptoed her way towards the door. "Professor Goodwitch wanted to speak with me today. I'm guessing it's about studying remedial lessons so that I can catch up to everyone else." Ruby whispered as she tiptoed her way to the en-suite bathroom with a bundle of clothes held in the crook of her arm before quickly exiting fully clothed in her combat attire. "See you soon." Ruby whispered with a smile as she silently opened the door and left the dorm room.
Left alone with her sleeping teammates and knowing that she wouldn't be able to get back to sleep. Weiss decided to get out of bed and silently made her way towards the shelves that made up the teams small library. 'May as well do some reading.' Her mind thought in a almost bored tone as her eyes began scanning the spines of the books. Books for classes, fiction, comics, magazines, Blake's 'adult' romance novels, there wasn't any semblance of order to the books, just chaos.
Eventually, her eyes came to a stop on a spine she had never seen before, no title, no author's name. Just a mixture of blue and pink swirling together on the spine like fire. Curiosity flared in Weiss's mind as she grabbed the book and pulled it from the shelf and looked over the cover of the book. Just like the spine, there was no title, no authors name, not even so much as a blurb on the back cover. Making her way back to her bed and getting comfortable, Weiss opened the book and began reading. Seemingly unaware of the symbol on the book's front cover.
*Scene Change*
Ruby made her way through the sparsely populated corridors of Beacon Academy towards Professor Goodwitch's office. Her journey was quicker than it would be for others, as she used her semblance sparingly through long hallways. Several minutes passed before Ruby turned the corner and came face to door with the door to Glynda's office. Tense moments passed before Ruby tentatively knocked on the door.
"Enter." The voice sounded through the wooden door before Ruby opened the door and entered the room. It was a standard office room, a desk with a single chair on one side, and two chairs on the opposing side. A filing cabinet rested against one of the side walls, its drawers filled with the disciplinary reports of every student currently attending the academy. Whilst such files would normally reside in the headmaster's office, it was a well known secret that Glynda was the one who actually ran the school. The walls were sparsely decorated with posters and memorabilia from her own time as a student and her travels as a huntress.
Glynda herself was sat at her desk, a pile of paperwork sitting neatly on one edge of the desk, practically the perfect image of a stern teacher, despite the invisible, blood red halo hovering over her head. With controlled steps, Ruby made her way into the office, gently closing the door behind her before coming to a stop in front of professor Goodwitch's desk. "Well Ms. Rose, I called you here because of a few...issues." Glynda said softly as she looked up from a report on her desk, the red cross immediately marking it out as a medical report, as she removed her glasses before pinching the bridge of her nose. "Ms. Rose...Ruby, at first I was simply going to call you here so as to discuss remedial lessons so that you could catch up with your fellow students. But that is no longer the whole case."
Glynda took several deep breaths before continuing. "I'm not sure if you were aware of this, but Mr. Winchester's father is a member of the Valean Council, and a dangerous man. No doubt that he has already learned about your...maiming of his only son, and so..." Glynda sighed before standing up. "I have to ask......WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?!" She all but screamed at Ruby as she slammed her hands onto the desk. "All that I had to do was beat team CRDL to get back into Beacon, that's all Professor Ozpin said I had to do." Ruby said with a ice-cold calmness to her voice, causing Glynda to internally flinch at the response.
"Ruby, you told us that these...'World Eaters' basically turned you into a gladiator slave. Did you ever have to..." Glynda looked regretful but physically flinched as Ruby interrupted her, a seemingly nostalgic smile on her face. "Yes, I killed. And at first I hated it. But as time ground on, I came to revel in it. To anticipate the next battle." Upon hearing those words, Glynda's heart sank, the young prodigy of Beacon Academy had been turned into a bloodthirsty monster. Why? How had she failed Summer's memory and her daughter this badly? The best thing she could do now to honour her friends memory was to try and bring back the old Ruby.
"Ms. Rose, not only will you be attending remedial classes in order for you to catch up with your classmates, but you are also going to be attending mandatory therapy sessions. Failure to do this will result in your expulsion from Beacon." Glynda listed off with a steel in her voice that brokered no argument as Ruby simply stood there and listened calmly. "And by the way Ms. Rose, if you want your people to stay here. Then they are going to have to learn how we do things on Remnant." Glynda said before taking a calming breath and continuing.
"We don't fight like barbarians Ms. Rose, and your people are going to have to learn how we do things. If they want to continue fighting, then they will do so in the Arena here in Beacon, and they must stop using this 'blood system'. This is non negotiable, Ms. Rose. Have a nice day." Glynda said, dismissing Ruby, who simply nodded and walked out of the room. A scowl immediately took over her face the moment she turned away from Glynda, closing the door behind her with a faux calmness.
In her rage hazed mind, Ruby made her way through Beacon in a daze. 'I'm going to enjoy taking her skull!' She thought in a rage before realising that she had arrived at the door to the arena. The sound of battle erupting from beyond the double metal doors causing Ruby to enter the room out of curiosity, and found Velvet fighting against four Atleasian Knight 180's. Or at least, she had started with four of them, three of them were laying on the floor in different states of destruction. One had its head removed by a blade, the second one had its torso pummelled in by what looked like Ember Celica, and the third one had been bisected by a chainsword. It was easy to tell that a chainsword had been used for Ruby, after she had seen the bite marks from the teeth left on a lot of corpses.
The final Atleasian Knight was laying prone on the ground, Velvet keeping her foot on the AK's back as she held a hard light copy of Wakeen's Chainaxe to its neck before decapitating it and noticing her audience. "Hey, Ruby." She muttered sheepishly as a blush adorned her face before asking a question. "You want a sparing match?"
