Benny shifted his feet impatiently as the elevator descended. The scarce fifteen minutes he took to make a decision after Frida's suspicious call felt like a total waste of time. After replaying the call in his mind and rereading the texts looking for a hidden message, he got to the conclusion that the most sensible thing to do was to show up at her house; despite the hour, despite the conditions.
If the call and messages were a product of Henry's design, then Benny would stand up to him. He was looking forward to the day he would avenge the harm Henry made to Frida. She deserved justice and Benny would give her justice and, at the same time, he would free his rage against this man. If Henry had her subjugated or threatened, then Henry would have to bear with him.
In the other hand, if Frida was indeed the one calling and texting, then Benny wanted to hear an explanation, face to face, heart to heart. She couldn't send those things and believe he'd stay amrs crossed seeing how the life they planned went to trash in a snap of fingers. They deserved better than a text.
Finally, after what felt like an eternal voyage, Benny left the elevator and made his way to the entrance and pick his black Ferrari. He drove obscenely fast. A policeman stopped him once but Benny showed his identification, told him he was in a hurry as it was an emergency and gave him a good tip. He had no time to lose.
As he drove, Benny thoughts of the list of probable scenarios. Whatever he found, his final plan was one; to punch Henry until his hands aches and get Frida out of that house, no matter the orden of events. As the stress went left behind his heart galloped faster and a strange feeling settled in his throat. He never believed in the sixth sense, but Benny was sure that he was experiencing something close to it... something was wrong.
The car entered the fancy neighborhood, it seemed almost illegal to enter the quiet surroundings at this hour. He slowed down the speed, with no intention of drawing the attention of the guards here and there in the different houses. He turned to the left and spotted the big house of his intent. During those preliminary seconds, Benny battled to control his tigerish mind, making a scandal was not of his style, he was a gentleman and he must be no matter his mood.
He was too distracted that he had to hit the breaks abruptly when someone to his left waved a hand. Benny frowned and stopped the car. A woman. She approached the window and looked at him with wide eyes; she was short and blonde, and had that expression in her face that told him she knew him.
"Goodnight, sir. May you apologize my dare."
Benny frowned sightly. He looked quickly further at the Matheus residency, it seemed like the woman came from there. "Don't worry. Are you alright? How can I help you?"
"My name is Alice." Alice gave him a tiny apologetic smile. "I work at the Matheus'. Before you say anything, yes, I know who you are, sir."
"Alice," he nodded, still confused but with a ray of hope.
"You come for miss Anni-Frid, right?"
So she knew him perfectly well. Benny became alert, this was the most timing and perfect coincidence. "What do you know about her?" Alice watched anxiously over her shoulder im direction to the house. The big gate was closed and the reflectors illuminated the gardens. "You can trust me. My intentions are the best, and if something is wrong with Frida..."
"Everything is wrong, sir," she muttered so low, as if anyone might hear her.
"How's Frida? She's in there, isn't she?" He asked wildly.
"Yes." Alice pursed her lips and doubted before continuing. "Sir, listen to me carefully and keep quiet, ok? It's crucial you act carefully."
That only increased his distress at two hundred percent. "Alice, speak now, please. I am here for Frida. If she needs me it's important you tell me."
