Four months later.
What a wonderful Thursday. Calm, lazy, slow. Like life lately. The tranquility of the countryside and the subtlety with which the air played with the autumn leaves of the trees provided an intoxicating serenity. Her days lately were like this; simple and beautiful, perfect in the simplicity of it that captivated her to the bone. Life here was amazing. Well, actually, her life the last four months had become incredible. She frequently felt the need for someone to poke her arm or shake her whole body. It was better than she ever imagined, there was so much peace inside her that every now and then she had the sensation of levitating. All in the name of love.
Their love. The most beautiful miracle of humanity. Well, no. You are my most beautiful miracle, Frida thought as she looked down and caressed her small five-month-old belly. The oversized brown cardigan covered them both from the windy weather. That place on her body was her favorite place, her favorite curve, it gave her so much peace to know that inside her grew the greatest proof of love and life that anyone could offer. Her baby, the baby of the love of her life.
Frida chuckled subtly lost in the memories. Benny, Benny! The sweetest and most charming baby daddy. There was not a night that he didn't sleep with his hand resting on her belly, in fact, his constant caresses there used to lull her to sleep. Their lives changed the day they found out that there would be not two but three of them. There was no change of plans but they added someone else to their magnificent plan, their baby. Heaven knew how much she desired to become a mother, but turning this dream into reality by Benny's side went beyond her ever-present expectations. She felt the most secure ever, the most loved and valued.
Being here, in his country house that had become theirs, was the greatest prize. They worked hard to turn every corner of the house into a magical place to live. A place they were able to call home, although Benny would always repeat that "home is you every time you kiss me". Frida giggled like a fool in love, there alone in the garden she'd worked so hard to bring to glamorous life. She was madly in love with him. She bet not even the first woman who put a foot on earth loved that way; so deep, so sincere, so humble, so sweet, so surrendered, so strong, so ardent, so passionate. Each moment by Benny's side felt like the most blessed moment, he made life worthy for her, greater and prettier.
Even though not everything went according to the plan at the beginning, they managed to go through. Henry didn't last to throw threats, he was a hurt man after all. However, as promised, Benny protected her since day one. He moved earth, sea and sky to set her free from Henry's chains until he had no other option but give up. One day, the war stopped. One day Benny came home and said "Don't worry, he will never bother you again", she didn't dare to ask questions, she reduced herself go trust him as they promised each other. Whatever happened that day, it had a huge impact and was the rock of the foundation of her peace of mind.
Looking back at the last four months felt liberating. To admire every step taken provided her with tranquility because every step taken brought them here, at this stage of peace, at this amazing view that she adored. The sun settling in the horizon, the sky turning orange with that breathtaking hint of pink, like designed by the most perfectionist painter. The autumn days made good to her spirit, actually, this November was turning out more interesting than any other before.
Just two days ago while she was making dinner in her gray cotton pants and a braid she so lazily did, Frida threw the innocent comment of her upcoming birthday. Benny jumped and went wild because "How on the name of god I didn't know your birthday date?!", she only shrugged and assured him it wasn't a big deal, but Benny threw a whole speech. The man seemed in real distress and pain, Frida hugged him, kissed him sweetly and replied with a simple "Now you know. You still have time to get me a pretty gift", and that softened the frown on his pretty face.
