Dinner had moved on mortally slow, at least Benny had Mia to get entertained, otherwise he would be bored to death. People talked about politics, politics and more politics. How come they didn't fed up? They worked on politics, ate politics, breathed politics. That seemed so dull to him, simply because that was not his thing. Even though he intented to continue developing in the fields of law, he wanted a calmer position, an accesible job that allowed him live his life at ease. And what if one day he decided to create a family, to have children. That requiered time, quality time. He knew what was like to grow up with a constant absent father and a mother dedicated in body and soul to his cause, so no, he didn't want that for his family, in case he had it. However, he didn't want that for himself, a job that consumed him day after day. And for that he needed to start doing things his own way.

"When will the real music start?" Mia complained beside him. Benny chuckled, he knew very well she enjoyed dancing.

"I'm not sure if there's going to be proper music even."

"And there I thought these people knew how to throw a party."

"They do, but this is a formal event, you know."

"Yes yes, but..." she grimaced. "Such a waste of time. Why don't we go elsewhere?" She pushed his arm playfully.

To be honest, he was waiting for an opportunity like this to windraw, but now that it came he didn't feel like it. A club would help him to get distracted from his most recent discovery that concerned a beautiful woman with deep green eyes, and also from his father's intentions. But no, he was exhausted, next step would be his appartmet, not a club. Benny tapped Mia's hand. "The best we can do is to stay here. But we can hang out whenever you want."

Mia smiled satisfied. "Sure. Did I tell you my new house has a pool? You could stop by." She winked at him.

And there she was again, trying to catch him with her charms, and Benny was just a man. Even if he wasn't looking for something serious, he could have fun, as he'd always done. Benny smiled back. "Sounds like a good plan."

"Whenever you want." She subtly dovetailed her nails into his arm and it sent electrical waves to his body.

"Hey guys!"

Benny and Mia turned to their left where a mutual friend was approaching. "Hey John!" Benny greeted him.

"I'm lucky to find you. Why don't you come over? The guys are over there." John pointed to the other side of the great salon.

"Oh jesus. Yes! Finally people our age." Mia rolled her eyes playfully.

"Not that we're in our twenties." Benny mocked her.

"Oh, speak for yourself!" She nudged him. "Come on, let's go."

Benny sighed, not feeling like socializing as much promising the suggestion was. "You guys go. I'll join in a bit."

"Why?" Mia frowned. "Come!" She tried to take his hand but he stopped her.

"No, really. I need the restroom." He lied.

"Okay, but do not take long!" Mia entwined her arm to John's and both walked away, leaving Benny alone.

Benny closed his eyes a moment and sighed, feeling totally out of place. The tall doors to the terrace were opened, inviting him to get lost in the garden, and so he will. His father was entertained with a group of colleagues and so far he hadn't claimed his presence. Making his way through the people, Benny headed towards the terrace.

The sound was left behind and the fresh air welcomed him. The garden was illuminated by chandeliers all the perimeter, some benches here and there under tall trees, and the moon proud and shining above gave the atmosphere a special touch. Still holding his glass of champagne, Benny walked onto an old stone bench he spotted, it was a bit hidden, so it was a good place to be. Benny sat down and placed the glass beside him. He finally undid the annoying tie and unbuttoned his shirt. That was way better.
