"Haven't seen you guys around here!"
The four turned to a man with a big nose and belly. He had a smile, but it almost seemed sinister. Like it was too friendly.
Of course Kurapika noticed this. Leorio was sort of suspicious of the big man. Gon had a smile to match the man's. And Y/n didn't even blink, her deadpanned but relaxed expression never leaving her.
"I'm Tonpa, I've done the Hunter Exam 35 times! I guess you could call me a veteran." He chuckled, "So stick with me and I'll give you some great advice!"
"Hi, Mr. Tonpa, I'm Gon!" The almond brown eyes boy exclaimed with a big smile.
Leorio and Kurapika just stared. But the bespectacled male mumbled under his breath, "That's not exactly something to brag about." Kurapika snorted at his words, and Y/n nodded softly.
But then again, Y/n was terrible at math. And she'd had to retake tests and quizzes all the time, so maybe she should give Tonpa the benefit of the doubt. She's probably had to do retake tests more than 35 times.
"I'm Y/n, but people call me Mob." Her soft voice chimed.
"Gee, you don't see a lot of women around here! Especially young ones like you." Tonpa smiled. "Are you sure you can make it through? The Hunter Exam is pretty difficult. Only a couple make it out of hundreds." Tonpa looked the girl straight in the eyes, hoping to make her uncomfortable.
Y/n just stared back, she wasn't uncomfortable by any means, but she certainly didn't know how to respond to that. If Teruki were here, he would probably blast the man away. If Ritsu were here, her little brother would give Tonpa the meanest eye. If her precious Tsubomi were here, then the pretty girl would probably stare at them and smile before walking away.
Well, Y/n is not any of them, so she only started to sweat.
"What the hell is your problem?" Leorio snarled to Tonpa. "She's more than good enough."
"I agree with Leorio." Kurapika said calmly. Though inside, he was fuming. Y/n was definitely the sweetest person he ever met.
"Yeah! Mob-Chan is psychic!" Gon smiled.
Kurapika and Leorio deadpanned, they figured she didn't want people to know.
But Y/n really didn't care that much. She often showed her psychic powers to random people when she exorcised spirits, so she didn't mind.
"Psychic..?" Tonpa sweat dropped. He genuinely thought these people were insane. But he had to go ahead with his reputation as the "Rookie Crusher."
"Ah, well my apologies—"
"AHHHH!!" A scream resonated throughout the short tunnel.
The four looked over to a man who's arms were disappearing into butterflies.
