Alastor's POV
I could run away now. Escape from Vox's and Val's care. But where's the fun in that? I wonder how long it'll take until either one starts talking to me about sex. Also I'm tired. Not sure why, but I am. I'm usually never this tired. Before I barely slept. Then Vox and Valentino came into the picture.
Vox and I walk down the streets of Pentagram City, almost to the bookstore. It's a quiet walk, but he seems nervous. Does he think I'm going to run away? Wouldn't that break a deal we made when I was first with these buffoons? I keep my word and he knows that. Although I don't mind a good chase. But why is he nervous?
We reach the bookstore and Vox stays hot on my tail. I raise an eyebrow but brush it off. Vox has always been weird. I look at the book titles, trying to find the one I'm looking for. Or at least the one that interests me. Most books here are filled with things I would rather not read.
Ever.
I find one about a cannibalistic family. Hm. This will work. Seems intriguing enough. I hear the store door open with that bell and Lucifer's voice talking to someone. What is he doing here? Vox grabs me and hides away from the front door's sight. He covers my mouth and I take the hint to shut up. But why? Lucifer is talking to Charlie and the two seem to be getting a gift for Angel. A book for Angel?
"Charlie, why would Angel want a book? Wouldn't he want something related to his...hobbies?"
"But there's plenty of books filled with that I'm sure he'd like. Trust me on this."
"Okayyyy."
They walk deep into the store. Vox lets me go, thankfully. I was very close to just beating him up and leaving. He quickly pays the cashier a random sum of money for the book and drags me out of there. He pulls me into an alleyway and teleports us through a camera. What is this all about?
"Don't ever do that again. I hate that." I shivered at the electricity that flowed through my body during the teleportation, holding my book in one hand.
"Sorry. I can't make promises though."
"I feel like I deserve an explanation. What was the reason for all of that?"
"So the Morningstar's may have come here earlier when you were sleeping and may have asked about your whereabouts. I may have lied saying I never knew where you were."
"Why didn't you tell them where I am?"
"Because they would've wanted you back, but I want you to stay here. Just being honest. But I'll make it up to you!"
"How?"
"I don't know." I sigh and pinch the bridge of my nose. Vox can be really stupid and he just gets stupider and stupider by the second. He's spending too much time around Val. "But uh... I know you don't like Valentino as much or his business, but I have an important trip to go to tomorrow and you'll be stuck with him. For like a couple days."
"Lovely. Can't wait," I say sarcastically. Vox gives me a nervous smile. I roll my eyes and take off my coat. I set it on the end of the bed and focus my attention on my new book. Vox leaves the room once he realizes I'm done with his crap. I lay on the bed and read.Vox's POV
For the rest of the day, Alastor just read his book. Everytime I found him, he was either sitting somewhere else or had changed positions. One moment he's laying on the floor and the next he's halfway off the bed. Sometimes I find him in the dining room, sitting on a chair. Not even five minutes later and I find him on top of the fridge. What the fuck? Sometimes I find him in the hallway, just chilling and reading. Sometimes he's in my office, sitting in my chair. Or on my desk. Or hanging from a TV upside down. Weird sight to see, but now I wonder where he is. He isn't in the kitchen or dining room. Not in mine or Val's room. Not in Velvette's room or the guest room no one uses. He isn't in the storage room or any hallway. Not in the living room. The only place I haven't checked is Val's studio and the lobby. I check the lobby first, doubting Alastor would ever step foot in Val's studio.
I check everywhere in the lobby. Nothing. Fuck. Is he really in there? Or did he leave? I take a ride in the elevator back up to the usual floor. I walk up to Val's studio, slowly opening the door. I peek in, silently searching for Al. I don't see him. Maybe the pimp knows where he is.
"Hey Val? You know where Alastor is?" I ask walking up. Val sits on a director's chair, his back facing me. Currently a few of his whores are filming, not Angel Dust though.
"Right here, baby." I look in his coat and Alastor is sitting on him, just reading. He doesn't look up at us or anything. He just continues reading as if he doesn't know the world revolving around him. "I'm almost done. After this, we can head to bed."
"No dinner?"
"Are you hungry?"
"No. Is Al hungry? He hasn't eaten all day." Alastor stays quiet. He's too into his book. I'll make him eat tomorrow. He has to eat. I'll make something special for him before I leave.
Once Val's filming finished, he picks up the deer bridal style and takes him to my room. I follow behind. I'm sure Alastor would want his own room if he does end up staying for good instead of sharing one with me. A room that doesn't match his style and color for him. We got a guest room he can have. I just don't know if I want to start painting it until I know Al will stay.
Val sets the Radio Demon on the bed and takes off his coat. He leaves to change into some nightwear. I change quickly to some comfy shorts and a loose T-shirt. I look at Al. I take the book out of his hands, bookmark it, and set it on the nightstand.
"You need to change. It's time to sleep. You can read in the morning."
"Since when did you become my parent?"
"Al, darling, please get ready for bed. I know I said I wouldn't bother you, but you need to rest. Even though that was half your day."
"Yet, I'm still tired. May I have some privacy as I change?"
"Yes, of course." I leave the room and wait. Val walks down the hall and looks at me. "He's changing. He likes his privacy." Val shrugs and waits for Al next to me. Once Alastor opens the door and peeks his fluffy little head out, we both walk in and join him.
