Alastor's POV

I sit with Val and Vox on the sofa in the living room. Vox and I are watching some weird TV show called 'Yeah I Fucked Your Sister, So What?'. I regret agreeing to this. Val scrolls on his mobile device, occasionally looking down at me. I lay against his side as he has a lower left arm around my waist. Vox sits on the other side of me with his arm around my shoulders. He's changed his head back to the old boxy one.

I mentioned I liked it once today and he immediately put it on. When I saw him with his boxy head, I blushed and bit my lip. I really did like it.

I notice a movement at the large window for a wall. I focus my attention to the window, but see nothing. Hmm. I turn back to the television to watch this atrocious picture show.

Suddenly the window shatters. Val covers Vox and I with his large wing.

"Well isn't it the Overlord Throuple," Lucifer's voice laughs.

"What do you want, Lucifer?! Mad I got a cure before we can seal a deal?" Vox says. Deal? What deal? What is Vox doing with the King of Hell and deals? Making deals with that shorty is a terrible idea.

"I should've never given you time to "think" about it. But I'm here for Alastor. I'm sure he'd love to hear your secret motives." Lucifer smirks. What is he talking about? I look at Vox. I can't tell his expression since all I can see is the side of his head. I look back at Lucifer with a raised eyebrow.

"What are you talking about? We don't have any 'secret motives'," Valentino yells back, making quotation marks with his fingers. Lucifer pulls out his mobile device and plays a recording.

"We play with him. Gain his trust, make him vulnerable around us, get a few things he wouldn't tell anyone," Vox's voice says in the device. My ears lay back. "Then use it against him."

"All to get rid of the Radio Demon you despise?" Valentino's voice asks. "We would be better off without him in Hell."

"I never said that!!" Vox yells. Lucifer stops the recording. "That's clearly made from AI!" AI? Artificial intelligence? I remember Vox teaching a little about that.

"Vox and I would never say that!!" Valentino yells. I want to believe them. I want to. I don't want to believe they'll turn against me. But it seems all real. The recording. It seems like something Vox would say. It seems like Vox would want me out of his life. He wouldn't come running back to me after our fallout 7 years ago. I don't believe it.

"You're spreading lies and misinformation just to cause trouble! Why do you care about our relationship anyways?" Lucifer doesn't answer and a timer goes off on his mobile device.

"Gotta go." He smiles. "Beignets are done." He flies out of the building. Am I just a plaything? Used until they have what they need? Thrown away like a piece of trash once they're done with me?

"Am I a joke to you two?" I speak my thoughts. My ears still lay back.

"Al-" Vox starts before I cut him off.

"Do I look like a fucking joke?" I stand up and look at them. "Is all this a joke to you two?! Because I'm not laughing!! I open up a bit, I get comfortable, I feel safe with other people for once in my entire existence. I feel like I can be myself and not have to stick to some stupid reputation!!"

"Baby, please. We're not-" Val pleads.

"Don't call me that. This was a mistake. I should've left when I had the opportunity." A single teardrop leaves my eye before I disappear into the shadows. I should've never let my walls down.

Vox's POV

I watch as Alastor vanishes into the shadows. I fall to my knees, getting some cuts and pokes from the shattered glass. Tears well up in my eyes. All I've ever wanted was for Alastor to trust Val and I. For Al to just love us the way we love him.

But fucking Lucifer, being the shittiest thing ever created, had to fucking ruin it. I made AI for Hell for fun. It was a fun project. Now it's the biggest mistake of my life.

Val kneels down in front of me. I look up at him.

"We'll get him back. I promise, darling. One mishap and a bitchy pathetic loser isn't going to stop us from loving each other." I wipe my tears.

"You're right." For once. "Let's go get our deer." I stand up and we run out the V tower. We head for the hotel, since that's one of the few places I think he would be.

Alastor's POV

I sit against a large tree in the middle of the forest. I hug my knees close to my chest. My first relationship and it goes to shit. I should've just done what I do everytime I get close. Push away. Lock away anything I feel. I can't trust anyone.

I feel a familiar power walk behind me. I expected to see them at one point.

"Come to take my soul back?" I ask, not even turning around. Lilith doesn't answer. "Take it. I don't care. Take me back to Heaven for another seven years for all I care. I would rather be there than here."

"I didn't come down here for that," she says softly. She walks closer and sits down next to me. I lay my head on my knees, looking the opposite way of her. "I've known about your soul being free since the moment it was. I was going to come down, but I saw you with those two Overlords."

"You should've just taken me," I mumble.

"I saw how you three looked at each other filled with love and joy. It reminded me of my husband and I when I was in Eden." I look at her. She chuckles softly, shaking her head. The memories replaying her head more than likely with that gentle smile.

"It was all a joke. I open up to them and get comfortable and it's for some sick joke. I show emotion and everything just explodes in my face." There was no love from those two. I was just a mouse running into a cheese trap. If I run too far into it, it would cause my downfall and they'd throw it away.

"Nothing was a joke, Al. Trust me, they truly have fallen for you. I saw what Lucifer did. I'm sorry about my husband. Now ex-husband once we talk later, but what he said and showed you wasn't true."

"How do you know that?" I lift my head and look at her. She gives me a sad smile.

"Vox and Valentino weren't playing with your heart. I could tell. I know what fake love is, deer. And I know what true love is. I've been through both. What those two Overlords were showing was true love. Lucifer made up about the 'secret motives' thing and was being an asshole." I don't answer her and look back at the ground. Maybe she's right. Maybe. We sit in silence for a moment. The atmosphere around us calms my tense nerves. Birds squawking above us. They don't chirp in Hell apparently. A deer walks out of the bushes and sniffs the air towards me. I lift my head slowly and look at it. The deer cautiously walks towards me, poking his head out to sniff. Lilith watches carefully and with a small smile. I reach out my hand, hesitating a bit to touch the animal.

"AL!!" I hear Vox yell in the distance. My ears perk up at the sound of his voice. The deer jumps and runs off before I can touch it. I take my hand back.

"BABY!! WHERE ARE YOU?!" Val's voice echoes in the forest.

"They came all the way out here to look for you," Lilith says quietly. "I know you don't believe me, but they truly do love you, Alastor." My ears relax and fall backwards. "They want to explain that none of what Lucifer said was true. Coming out here in the middle of the forest at dusk just for you. If that isn't love, I don't know what is."

"I...I just need time to think," I mumble. Vox's and Val's pleading voices in the background of our conversation. "Can you take me with you? Just for a bit? A week or two maybe. Please."

"Of course." A portal opens up and she steps in it. I hesitate. Val's and Vox's voices can still be heard in the distance, calling for me. I hear running towards me. I look behind me to see the two Overlords.

"Al..." Vox says, looking at me with a defeated frown. His eyes full of sadness. I look back at Lilith and step in, the portal closing behind me.
