Alastor's POV
I sit at the kitchen table, reading my book and drinking my coffee. I have my book floating with green magic surrounding it, flipping the page when I need it to. My coffee doesn't have any blood in it unfortunately, so it's not as good as before.
Vox and Valentino walk out of the television head's room, said television head visibly a bit tired. They smile at me and I of course smile back. I set my book down, closing it with a bookmark peaking out. The thin paper keeping my place in the story. Val kisses my cheek and rubs my shoulders before walking off. Vox ruffles my hair.
"Afternoon, baby. How are you doing?" Vox asks.
"I'm alright. Not super stoked about the meeting later. But I'll survive as long as I stay a demon this time. How about you? Doing good this morning? Or afternoon, I should say."
"I'm fine. Where's Velvette?" Vox looks around for a moment before looking back at me. I take a sip of my coffee before answering.
"She's working on her clothing line. She's been busy all morning with her work." I hear Valentino chuckle in the distance, my ear turning slightly to the source of the noise. "What's so funny?"
"Just Velvette always working on her clothing line. She's so into her work that any idea of anything happening to whatever she's working on is ruined will have her killing everyone here," Valentino answers as he walks towards us. He sits on the table with his hands in his lap. I notice Vox's pixelated eyes narrowing.
"I bet me and Al could convince her. Right Al?" Vox says confidently, patting my back.
"It's 'Al and I' not 'me and Al' first of all," I say. Vox rolls his eyes and rubs my shoulder. "Second of all, yes, I believe we might be able to convince her to burn something of hers. Or at least rip."
"Let's make a deal," Valentino offers, making my ears perk up. He chuckles before continuing. "If you two are unable to convince Velvette to destroy a piece of her clothing she doesn't dislike, you both have to wear a maid dress to the Overlord meeting. If you are, I will."
"What maid dress?" I ask. I look at Vox, who is glaring at Valentino. I look back at the pimp demon, my head tilted slightly.
"Voxxy still hasn't given my gift to you?" Val smirks at Vox. I look back at Vox again, confusion written all over my face. "I got you one for you too Voxxy. Now, do we have a deal?" Val holds out his hand to shake. Vox thinks for a moment. He looks at me and I nod.
"Deal," Vox states firmly. The two shake hands, blue electric sparks and red smoke dancing around their hands until they break away. The meeting is scheduled in about 45 minutes, give or take. We have plenty of time to convince her.
"Better get to work. The meeting starts soon." Valentino kisses my cheek and winks at Vox before retreating to the living room. I look at Vox.
"What maid dress?" I ask. A pink hue starts to pixelate on Vox's screen.
"Just...uh... something Val got you when you were human. Don't worry too much about it. We won't lose this bet. Velvette will surely burn something. Just a bit of convincing, maybe a threat or two, and we're golden." Vox seems very confident about this. Maybe too confident. That might bite us in the ass. "Now come on. We got a fashionista to convince." Vox grabs my hand and drags to the elevator. He holds me closer than needed once the elevator door shuts. He gives me a quick kiss on the lips, making my ears perk up.
"Why'd you do that?" I ask. He chuckles and leans closer to me, his voice dropping low.
"Because I love you. Can't I show my love to you every moment of the day?" I guess that makes sense. The elevator door opens and Vox lets go of me. We walk out the elevator before the door shuts. Velvette works diligently. Her employees practically run around to accommodate her requests. Nervous faces on each and every single one of them. Velvette notices us and walks over.
"Hey babes! Hey Vox. What are you two doing here?" She greets us. I noticed the difference in her tone when she greeted Vox and I.
"We were just wondering if you could do something for us. Just one small little thing," Vox says.
"You don't need to repeat two words that mean the same thing," I mumble under my breath. Which earns me a nudge from Vox, who definitely heard what I said. Velvette chuckles.
"And what would that be and how important is it that it's worth my time?" I open my mouth to answer but Vox covers it quickly. I glare at him and cross my arms. Velvette raises an eyebrow but doesn't say anything.
"Just need a piece of your fabric. Preferably from one of the dresses you're making." Vox gives his normal charismatic smile to the smaller V. I roll my eyes and peel his hands off of my face. Velvette thinks for a moment.
~At The Meeting~
The V's and I walk into the meeting room. I sit down by Rosie as usual, who tilts her head at me. The V's sit in their usual spots by the door. I tap my fingers onto the table. Carmilla Carmine walks in and looks around before speaking. "Vox...Alastor...what are you two-"
"Don't," Vox says. Even my microphone has a little white thread tied as a bow on it.
"Lost a bet," I say. Carmilla doesn't say anything for a moment. Nobody does. The room falls to silence for a bit.
"Right. Let's continue with the meeting," she says with a slight cough.
