A WEEK LATER

it's my lobola negotiations day. I just came back from the room which they are negotiating in. They wanted to ask me if i knew the Khozas. After i agreed they said i could go back. There is this uncle who kept talking and talking over and over again. I just want everything to be over then i can go back to my life and forget about this family but he kept on talking as if he didn't want this day to come to an end. When i got into the room the door closed as soon as i got inside. I looked at the door and it was Desmond. He took the keys and put them in his pocket

Me:what are you doing here?
Des:we have to talk. You blocked my number so this is the only way to talk to you.
Me:get out.
Des:please be honest with me. If i wasn't your brother and Evidence didn't temper with fate would you have agreed to date me? Who knows? We would be married now.
Me:thank God we are not. You are my brother!
Des:yes I know that. And i will try and get rid of these feelings i have for you. It will be hard but i will try. I want to do my brotherly duties. I will protect you. Starting with proving your innocence.
Me:you already refused.
Des:i was under her spell. I will help you.
Me:open the door.
Des:promise you will listen. After talking i will leave you to decide what you want.
Me:oh.
Des:please don't shut me out. I did not know you are my sister. My family has been looking for you.
Me:you didn't look properly then. Your father knew where the woman he impregnated stays. But he did not try to look there. So what excuse did he have?
Des:there is no excuse. Your mother was angry when my dad rejected you guys so she never came back again.
Me:isn't it he told her to never come to his place? Why did he cheat on his wife? Why didn't he use protection? Or he didn't know the consequences?
Des:and why did your boyfriend not use protection when he cheated?
Me:so you're keeping tabs on us. I told him to move on and it didn't work out. He's not like your father. He did not abondon his child.
Des:you forgave him. Can't you do the same with our father? Please.
Me:i take it he sent you here. Tell him it won't work.
Des:Please unblock me.

"Xiluva open up. It's time for you to serve your in laws."

That's Keletso's voice. I don't even know where she went because we were together in here.

Me:please open the door.
Des:i will call so we can meet.

He opened the door and Xiluva looked at him surprised. She closed the door and looked at me.

Keletso:and then?
Me:he wanted to talk. He wants me to forgive his father and he also said he's going to help me prove my innocence.
Keletso:isn't that a good thing?
Me:no. He must just leave me alone.
Keletso:are youreally serious about provingyour innocence? Did you watch the USB?
Me:i forgot! I don't know why i keep on forgetting about it.
Keletso:you're not serious. I will call you when we go back.

I went to open the door when someone knocked. It was Desmond again. I don't know why i get irritated when i see him.

Des:the uncles are calling you.
Me:I'm coming.

I followed behind him to where they were. I took a seat and the talkative uncle was the one talking.

Uncle:the lobola negotiations are done. You're the first daughter in our family and your traditional or white wedding has to be here. We will have to talk to your in laws.
Me:the traditional wedding will be in KZN. That's how they do it. Then the white wedding me and my husband will choose the venue.
Uncle:okay. That means it will be here.
Me:with all due respect, you don't have a say on this. It will be where i want it to be. Not here. I don't have anyone here.
Uncle:we are your family. O wa ga Molapo akere.(you are a Molapo)
Me:where were you for the past 28 years?
Pastor:she can have the wedding wherever she wants. You do not have to force her.
Uncle:this is your fault. If you did not reject her we would be having a wedding. What did you reject her for? Being a pastor? If that was the real reason then you shouldn't have been a pastor. You teach people to love each other but you failed to do that with your daughter. Look where we are now. The child does not want us in her life. This is all your doings.
Pastor:i hear you. I have been apologizing to her but i can't force her to forgive me. It will take time but i will not stop. I will give her time to heal.
Uncle:if you don't want to have the wedding here can the family come?
Me:i have to talk to my husband first. I will see.
Uncle:okay. We will hear from you.
