Chapter 7 - Blinded By Fun

Practice was over and everyone was getting ready to leave the gym. After changing their attires and locking up their lockers, they all headed out to exit the building. Both Sonic and Silver wore their jackets again.

Mephiles was staring at Silver and he tried to whisper from afar that they had to pretend to go out. Silver got the idea and nodded.

"Sonic, wait!" He called from behind.

Sonic turned around and stared at him, "what?"

"I think Shadow dropped this when he left the locker room. You should return it to him." He said while handing out the elbow pads to the other.

"Huh? How did-"

"Just take them!" Silver shoved the pads to his arms, "I'm going out with Mephiles so I'll leave it up to you. Bye, Sonic!" He smiled and waved his hand. He ran towards Mephiles who immediately took his hand and they started running away together.

Sonic wondered why they were in such a hurry when in reality they just hurried to go find a hiding spot to spy on them. He sighed and decided to catch up on Shadow who went to the parking lot.

The azure hedgehog saw his upperclassman talking to one of his teammates. He didn't seem to want to find Mephiles because he also knew that Mephiles was going out with Silver. Once Shadow was alone, he build up the courage to approach him. Afterall, he needed to return the pads.

"Um- Shadow! Wait!"

Shadow stopped right before he opened the door to his car. He turned around and saw Sonic. "What's up?" He smiled.

"Ah...I uh...found this, you dropped it when you left the locker room." Sonic said while holding up the elbow pads.

"What the?" Shadow raised his brow and took it, "I could've sworn I kept this in my locker."

"So it did slip out and you just didn't know?"

"Hmm...yeah, I guess you're right." Shadow chuckled, "thank you." He said and put the pads in his bag.

"So, your friend's out with my brother. How do you feel about that?" Shadow asked. Sonic blushed when he leaned on to his car.

"It shouldn't be that surprising, honestly." He laughed awkwardly, "but I am happy for him."

"I'm weirded out by the thought of my brother having to date anyone. He's too...weird for anyone to like him." Shadow said with a shrug.

"Aw don't say that, he's your twin. So anything bad you say to him is like saying it to yourself."

"Nuh uh, I'm still better than him." The taller one smirked.

Sonic blushed more at the smirk and quickly avert his eyes away, "w-well I mean, I'm sure you are." He stuttered.

"Smart answer." Shadow nodded in approval. "You know, since everyone's gone already and my brother's not even with me, wanna hang out?"

Blue ears perked up, he stared at Shadow in surprise and held his own two hands together from being nervous.

"To be honest I don't like how alone I feel at home, so if Mephiles is on a date I can wait for him by hanging out." Shadow moved away and opened the car door, "what do you think?"

Sonic knew that was a chance for him, he set his nervousness aside and tried to be brave. He smiled at his crush and nodded his head in excitement.

"Sure, let's go!"

Meanwhile, from behind the thick bushes and trees, Silver and Mephiles were spying on them. They both were surprised when Shadow let Sonic to get in the passenger seat of his car.
