chapter 12: rivalry aflame

"Sooo- how are things going with your new relationship?" Y/n teased, seeming strangely excited on an exam day.

"It's actually never been better!" Ryujin exclaimed with joy, conveying her happiness of being in a committed relationship.

"So, what are you gonna do after the exam?" Ryujin asked.

"Nothing really, just the usual. Extra study and whatnot. But, maybe we could go out to eat tonight? I've really been craving korean fried chicken." suggested Y/n.

"Oh, uh-" Ryujin hesitated, with an awkward expression.

"What's the matter?"

"Well, uhm. See the thing is- me and Bokkie have kinda already made plans to go out tonight. We're going on a double date with Lia and Jisung."

"Oh. Never knew they were a thing." said Y/n, her happy attitude completely wiped off with rejection.

She's always making plans with Yongbok. I understand that she wants to hang out with her boyfriend. I'm not selfish. It's just, who else do I have to make plans with?

I try to make plans with her, but she always tells me she's got plans with him. It used to be once, now it's everytime.

Whatever then, she can have fun with the 3 of them. And I'm definitely not jealous that I'm the only one without a boyfriend.

"Look, I'm sorry Y/nnie. We can always make plans for next week?"

"It's fine, just forget it." Y/n sulked, feeling as if she'd fallen into a deep, dark hole.

"Y/nnie-"

"Class, that's your call. Good luck to you all on your bio exam." Mr Jun proclaimed, after the bell had rang for first period.

Y/n was the first to stand up, swiftly picking up her bio notes and reading them as she walked out the door.

Jeongin's eyes trailed Y/n's pathway as she walked out the door.

She's smart for trying to get in as much knowledge as possible. But I'm still going to beat her in the exam.

Ryujin managed to catch up to Y/n, placing one hand around her.

"Do you need help? I can test you if you want." Ryujin asked, hoping to break the ice between them.

"I'm fine." She said, not taking her eyes off her notes, continuing to dictate the words as she walked ahead of Ryujin down the hall.

"Fuck." Ryujin sighed, slowly following Y/n down the hallway.

Y/n slipped her notes back into her bag before she walked into her bio class, immediately sitting down as Mr Chwe scolded the class for walking in so leisurely.

"Hurry up and get in your seats or it'll be a detention!" Mr Chwe screamed.

It was clear nobody liked him. And that he probably lives alone.

All of the students rushed to their seats like dispersed fish, hoping to avoid his sanction.

"As you know, you will be sitting your biology exam now-"

"Huh, we had an exam today?" Minwoo said, scratching his head in confusion.

"That's a detention!" Mr Chwe shrieked, making every student jump in their seats.

What is this guy on? I am almost convinced he's an extraterrestrial or something at this point.

"Shit, I think my eardrums burst." Minwoo muttered.
