Percy had to go on a quest. Of course, he had to. He was the son of Poseidon. He was the child of the prophecy.

Lilith knew it was selfish of her to be bitter to him, but she couldn't help it. Yet another camper got claimed before her, while she has been waiting for years. 12 years, to be exact.

Lilith was sitting in the Big House. She knew Percy and Grover would come in at any moment to go on their quest.

Annabeth was hidden with her invisibility cap, while Lilith was just seated on a chair, zoning out. She herself wasn't going, of course. She just wanted to see the whole ordeal come down.

Right before Percy and Grover came in, an owl swooped down, and a letter landed on Lilith's lap. Giving the familiar owl a treat, Lilith opened the letter from her best friend Maddie.

Briefly scanning over the letter, Lilith read that Maddie was in Italy together with her parents and brothers, that she missed Lilith, and that she hoped she would write back soon.

Pocketing the letter, Lilith hadn't noticed Mr. D and Percy are already in a conversation.

"If I had my way," Mr. D said, "I would cause your molecules to erupt in flames. We'd sweep up the ashes and be done with a lot of trouble. But Chiron seems to feel this would be against my mission at this cursed camp: to keep you little brats safe from harm."

Lilith had to mask her snort into a cough. No matter how annoying he was, he had some funny moments.

"Spontanious combustion is a form of harm, Mr. D," Chiron put in.

"Nonesense," Dionysus said. "Boy wouldn't feel a thing. Nevertheless, I've agreed to restrain myself. I'm thinking of turning you into a dolphin instead, sending you back to your father."

"Mr. D -" Chiron warned.

"Oh, all right," Dionysus relented. "There's one more option. But it's really foolishness," Dionysus rose and the invisible players' cards dropped to the table. "I'm off to Olympus for the emergency meeting. If the boy is still here when I get back, I'll turn him into an Atlantic bottlenose. Do you understand? And Perseus Jackson, if you're at all smart, you'll see that's a much more sensible choice than what Chiron feels you must do."

Mr. D grabbed a player card, twisted it, and it became a plastic rectangle. A security pass. He snapped his fingers. The air bent around him, and with a gush of wind, he vanished, leaving the smell of fresh-pressed grapes behind.

Knowing what Chiron was going to say to Percy, Lilith tuned the conversation out and instead watched the dark clouds.

Lilith noticed the change of weather back at Hogwarts when she came back from Christmas break, but didn't think much of it as the weather in England always was a bit off.
