And we both drew blood, but, man, those cuts were never equal | The Grudge, Olivia Rodrigo
When Percy, Annabeth, and Grover left, everyone was nervous. The last time someone went on a quest, he didn't fulfil it.
That person was Luke.
A few years back, Luke was offered a quest by his own father, Hermes. He had to seek a Golden Apple at the Garden of Hesperides from the tree. At the time, Luke was honoured by this request, but later began to question it as it was done before by the hero Heracules and he didn't want to do a quest someone had already done.
Finally, he went on this journey but failed and was scarred on his face by the dragon who guards the tree, Ladon. However, Luke apparently was able to injure Ladon and steal a claw. He returned to the camp and, according to his words, was treated with "pity" by the campers. Since then, his hatred for his father grew.
He thought he could hide it well, but Lillith could see through him. She knew he hated the gods, and honestly, she couldn't blame him. They were selfish.
She would never say this out loud, though, because even though they are selfish, they are still the gods.
Walking up to Luke, Lilith sat down next to him, overlooking the lake.
"You okay?" She asked.
She could feel him shift. "Fine," he said curtly.
"Sounds convincing," Lilith had a small smirk on her face as she turned to look at him.
He sighed. "Just - don't. Go bother someone else," Luke said, sounding annoyed.
"No, I don't think I will. I know you think they will have the same fate as you or maybe even worse. But they have each other, which is for the best," Lilith said.
"Don't you think I know that?!" Luke burst. "Gods, Lilith, I know they have each other, but sometimes that means that that is their downfall! Getting closer to people!" he was standing up now. "Just leave me alone. Is that so hard to do?"
"Wow," Lilith said, now standing up too. "You know, if I knew you were going to be such a bitch about it, I wouldn't have bothered coming up here."
"I'm the bitch?" Luke said angrily. "You think you're so much better than everyone just because you're a demiwitch, but I don't see your godly parent ever claiming you? After twelve years you're still stuck in the Hermes cabin, wondering why your mother or father abandoned you for camp."
"That's low," Lilith said, not raising her voice, but you could here the anger in it. "I get that your mad at the father after everything he made you go through, but you don't need to take it out on me," she started to walk away. "Just so you know, the more you act like this, the more you're going to lose the people you care about. And I think you just lost me."
