Keeping Mia around was most definitely the wisest choice on Severus's part, although his ego would never allow him to admit so to Lucius, and especially not to Mia. He was certain she would burst a blood vessel in happiness.

She stays in the vacant bedroom in his quarters, and although he isn't used to having someone around in his personal space, he was beginning to gradually get used to it as the months passed by.

He had more to adjust to of course, from the curtains she would leave open early in the morning, letting in a form of light the interior of his quarters rarely gets blessed with, to a standard of organisation that stretched from his extensive wardrobe to the box of tea bags that sat on the kitchen counter by the jar of sugar cubes.

Upon order Mia would be padding in with a cup of tea, coffee, whatever drink he would ask for. If he needed something specific for a meal, all he had to do was ask her. No matter what condition he would leave his office in after long nights, Severus would come back to it clean and organized. She never spared a single corner of his quarters other than his potions lab which she wasn't allowed to step into.

His workload at Hogwarts most definitely did not decrease, but having a maid around lightened his burdens, regardless of the thoughts her mind would annoyingly spit out at times.

Three months had passed since he had her around and things were most definitely lighter for his head. Headaches were no longer as frequent and his nights of slumber didn't end with him awakening like he was heavily drugged.

Severus brought a hot cup of tea to his lips, the taste better than any drink he could ever conjure up. Looking up from the Daily Prophet, his eyes focused on his maid as she sat on the floor, scrubbing the floor of his living room.

She would clean his floors twice every week, in disrespect of the germs that emitted off the thousands of hormonal, pubertal students which would get dragged inside by his shoes from the endless halls he would saunter through daily.

The hem of Mia's skirt was soaked with whatever mixture of cleaning solution she had made. She was wearing a simple black top, white lace lining the front and back, a part of her uniform, which was slightly wrinkled from the work she had done, and had no other flaws but some loose threads and a defected button.

Right where her belly button was, the button would come undone. Severus would watch Mia button it back up and proceed to work, only to realize moments later that it had come undone again.

He remained quiet, finding it both annoying and amusing to watch his maid grow frustrated over such a thing.

"Mia." Upon hearing her name being called, she looks up at him as she dipped her sponge into the bucket of water, expression curious.

The older man sets his cup aside, and reaches into his pocket, pulling out a shiny, silver necklace with a small heart charm on it.

"This is yours, correct? I found it by the fireplace of my office, melted into the carpet....and took it upon myself to fix it with magic." He raises the necklace, dangling it between his pinched fingers. The sunlight shining through the windows reflected off the mineral, kissing it with a soft spark. "It cannot belong to any student, as I rarely let anyone into my office, but you."

"It is indeed mine! I thought I had lost it forever." Mia said with a soft gasp, abandoning her soap and buckets to pad over to him. Reaching up, she took the necklace, relief washing over her dainty features as she puts it on.

"Hmm. I don't understand why people become so sentimental over a lifeless object." Severus said dryly as he folded up his newspaper, casting it aside on the table as he straightened up in his wingback.
