The bedroom door opened and I assumed that James was entering the room until I felt someone's hands on my waist from behind. Reece's scent was so familiar; it made my heart skip a beat. I turned around and rested my hands on his shoulders. "You look so beautiful," he whispered. My lips curled into a smile as I was still wearing my pyjamas and my hair was a mess, not to mention the lack of makeup on my face.
Reece kissed me and my stomach fluttered. "I love you," I told him as he pulled away. "Char, are you dressed yet?" James asked as he came into the bedroom. I practically jumped out of Reece's hold and put quite a bit of distance between the two of us. James looked up at both of us and raised his eyebrows. "Everything alright?" he questioned and I nodded. "Reece just wanted to borrow some toothpaste," I answered. James looked at me expectantly and I rushed into the bathroom. I picked up a tube of toothpaste and returned to the bedroom.
"Thanks," Reece said as I handed him the toothpaste. I forced a friendly smile before he left the bedroom. When the bedroom door shut, James turned to look at me. "I'm going skiing with the lads today. Will you be okay with the girls?" he asked me and I nodded. "I think Barclay is staying in the chalet so if you need some time away from the bitchiness, he'll be here," James told me and laughed. I forced an amused smile as he walked towards me. He pulled me into him and kissed my lips. "Get dressed. Everyone's eating breakfast without you," he said before I turned around and he playfully slapped my bum. I rolled my eyes at his action as I walked into the bathroom.
I was happy to put a door between the two of us. The more time I spent with Reece, the more James seemed to get on my nerves. I had to tell James the truth before Barclay did. I'd rather it came from me than someone else. I turned the shower on and began to get undressed.
When I'd showered and dressed, I went all the way downstairs to find Alisha, Jess and Amelia sat at the table eating breakfast. I didn't fancy the company of the lovely Amelia so I opted to join Barclay and Claire on the sofas. The two of them looked so sweet, curled up on the sofa, Barclay looking adoringly at Claire. And then I felt that pang of jealousy. I wanted to have what they had so badly. And as much as I tried to convince people otherwise, I was struggling to accept the fact that I couldn't have kids.
"You alright, Babe? You look upset," Claire asked me. I stared at her blankly for a moment before smiling. "I'm fine," I replied. Claire held my gaze for a moment, clearly seeing right through me. But she looked away, moving her attention to the television. "Claire and I were discussing our wedding last night," Barclay told me and I nodded, encouraging him to carry on. "We've decided that we're going to wait until our baby is three years old," he continued. "That's quite a while," I replied and he nodded. "We want our baby to be our main priority," he explained. I smiled and said, "You two are the sweetest couple I know."
Alisha came over to the sofas and sat down beside me. "Have you done anything about that thing we spoke about?" she asked, he voice quiet so only I could hear. But Barclay had caught on to what we were talking about and was glaring at me. "Not yet. I'll wait until we get back home," I replied and she nodded. "Don't leave it too long. You don't want him finding out another way," she whispered and I nodded.
"What are you two gossiping about?" Jess asked as she sauntered over to the sofas. "It's nothing to do with you," Alisha replied bitterly. Jess held her hands up defensively and I rolled my eyes. I couldn't deal with drama today so I escaped upstairs where I could be away from everyone.
While on my way to the bedroom I was sharing with James, I stopped off at Reece's bedroom. I guess I just wanted to see the little things that used to make me feel so happy and safe. I sprayed some of his aftershave on my t-shirt and smiled at the familiarity of the scent. I picked up his song book and opened it on the most recent page. He'd started writing a new song about a girl.
"What the hell are you doing in here?" someone said from behind me. I dropped Reece's book on the floor as I quickly turned around to see Amelia stood in the doorway of the bedroom. "I was...uh...I was just looking for my toothpaste," I told her. She glanced at the floor where Reece's song book had landed. "In his notebook?" she questioned and I bit my lip, unsure of how I was supposed to get out of this one.
Amelia went into the bathroom and retrieved my toothpaste. She walked towards me and placed the plastic tube in my hand. "If you came to get your toothpaste, why do you smell like my boyfriend?" she asked me. I didn't answer her question; I just pushed past her and ran up the stairs to my bedroom. I slammed the door behind me and locked it.
I collapsed on the bed. I was panicking. Amelia would go and blab to Jess about me being in her room, who would then tell Casey and it'd go on like that. I had to tell James about me and Reece tonight.
