"It all started back after your mother found out that she was pregnant with you. Your brother had been born about six months before we discovered you. About half way through your mother's pregnancy with you, a few weeks into the pregnancy, a rouge attack happened that led to your mother getting hurt and almost losing you. However, her wolf saved you from dying, as yours had to before you were born." I coughed. I was a werewolf too? So my mother was a wolf as well and I'm guessing from the point of view of the story, my father and brother were too.
"You were born a few days early and showed signs that you weren't connecting with your wolf well. You smelled like a normal human instead of a wolf. So we kept you blind to the fact that you were possibly a werewolf and that we were too. If you were going to smell like a human, then we wanted you to live a human life. But after you turned sixteen, the shifting age, and still no response from your dormant wolf, we knew that you were going to be a human the rest of your life." Something inside of my head huffed at their actions in the past. I had a right to know that I was a lamb among wolves. I held my words back as my mother took over.
"Since your father and I had been betrothed when our parents wanted to unite packs, we had acted similar to how you did but without running because we had our packs to think about. I was the Alpha's daughter and your father was the next Alpha of his pack. It turned out we were mates so we had no problem with it. With you showing signs that you were getting stronger, we hoped that by betrothing you to the next Alpha of a neighboring pack, that it would bring out your wolf and that he would be your mate like us." I began to shake. This was huge. My father was not only a werewolf but a werewolf leader. He was the leader of a pack. And as I looked next to me to Aden's father, I realized that he was an Alpha as well.
Something inside me wanted to roll over and accept defeat but I wanted to hear more. I wanted more. I knew this was more than I had taken in during the betrothal announcement and I was surprised at myself and how I was doing well with the information.
"We were right, though we weren't sure about you since you hadn't reacted to Aden at first. Aden had told us that you were but since you had ran, we figured that you didn't know about the bond between you. So we waited for you two to bond before asking for him to have you returned. You seeing him as a wolf and his mother had been a bit of a stone in the road but you had acted like they were normal dogs until you began to piece everything together." I had been right and I heard a sigh next to me with my mother's words.
Aden's mom had her elbows on the table and she was grinning in my direction. I blushed a bit at seeing her in her wolf form and naming her. I had treated my future husband's mother like a dog. Scratch that, I had treated my future mother-in-law and my future husband like dogs.
"I hope you don't plan on calling me 'Kar'," she joked before she patted my back and looked back to my parents. I looked back too, my cheeks still painted pink.
"So now you know everything Sara. We keep our existence a secret from humans and live peacefully away from humans in large settlements like this town. And for those who threaten to end us, we fight back with every breath so that we don't fall prey to them." I nodded and took in the rest of the story.
"Any questions?" My mother asked. I wasted no time in asking away.
"What happened to Aden and Scott?" My father's face looked like he couldn't decide on whether to frown or smile so his face remained passive.
"Scott is in the holding cells for starting a fight and threatening his Alphas. And Aden is over at his place changing his clothes. He had shifted to aid us after you took Lisa home. Speaking of which... did you tell her anything?" I shook my head.
Oh we hinted like hell but we wouldn't tell her something that would threaten her life. I agreed with the voice in my head. I loved Lisa like a sister. I would never put her in harm's way.
At least Aden is safe. I nodded a bit, also relieved that he hadn't been harmed like my parents had.
"You didn't? You did? Which is it? You keep shaking your head but never say anything. Speak daughter," my father commanded, an air of authority around him. Why did he want to know anyways if this town was made up of werewolves. That little voice in my mind silenced and I cleared my throat.
"I told her goodbye and to sleep well. Nothing else father." I no longer spoke with power but with a small, shaky voice. My father's head bobbed as he confirmed it from my facial expression that I was telling the truth.
"Sorry I'm late, did I miss anything?" I heard a deep voice say. I gasped and turned towards the voice that had come from the rock garden that was now all torn up from Scott. Aden strolled in and came to my side as his parents both moved away a bit to give us space.
"Just the story of how everyone is a wolf," my brother spoke for the first time since I had arrived. My mate sat next to me and wrapped his arm around me in a protective manner before nodding to the room.
"Okay." He looked at me and gestured with his eyes down to my stomach and back to my parents, a look of unease on his face as he asked the silent question. I felt a shiver move up my back as I leaned into his side and smiled. Oh it wasn't that it was cold, the door being broken was affecting me a bit, but it was that my mother had been very strict about me not having sex until Aden and I were married but we had and now they were going to find out sooner or later.
"As long as you know how to run, go for it," I said softly with a grin on my face. I noticeably watched Aden's face pale before he gulped.
"Um, we have something to announce," he announced to the room before I heard my brother fall over holding his stomach, a large smile on his face and tears from his eyes before he whispered for everyone to hear,
"He is soo dead..."
