Toucan stood beside a familiar gray slug. She had known him for most of her life, and now he was leading them to war.

Sir Dadadoo turned his head around to look at Toucan. He could, if he had eyes. Toucan looked up at him.

"Are you sure you want to do this?" Sir Dadadoo said, bending down to Toucan's level. She didn't know why, but he had never really wanted her around humans.

"I'll be fine. This is what I signed up for." She said, stretching out her talons. "Promise."

Sir Dadadoo sighed. He stood up straighter and turned to look at the 'army' behind him. Not really an army, but it was good enough.

Syringeon, Banban, Opila Bird and a handful of Naughty Ones were behind them. They were about to go to the surface level. To get revenge on what humans had done to them.

"For too long we have been pushed around and disposed of like trash," Sir Dadadoo said, turning his head as he spoke. "Today that changes. We go to the surface level to send the dragonets to the lower levels for what they have done. Banban, Opila, Toucan," he turned to the named dragons as he spoke their names.

"Your part is the most important. You three already are to go there for bring-a-friend day, so your job is to get us in when the time is right. You will both go up first."

Banban nodded, as did Toucan. Opila bird squawked happily behind them. Toucan felt a sudden trickle of nervousness run down her spine.

She felt cool scales on her spine and turned to see Syringeon behind her. He had been her mentor, even like a father to her. He had taught her all she knew about science and healing. She had also managed to self-teach herself engineering.

Syringeon rested his tail along the back of her neck. "Be careful," he said, taking his tail off her neck. "Dragons can be brutal, mean creatures. So much different from us. They disposed the rest of us like we were mere toys."

Toucan nodded. "I have three things for you to do." Syringeon continued. "One: don't get too close to the dragons. Two: don't get hurt. Three: Don't you dare die."

Toucan chuckled. "I'll be fine." She said, flicking her tail. "Don't worry."

Syringeon still looked unsure, but his expression softened a bit. Toucan turned and joined Banban and Opila on the elevator.

Syringeon gve her a determined look, as did Sir Dadadoo. He nodded to them as the elevator rose into the darkness. They were on level four, so they would be here a while.

Toucan had been a mascot for Banban's Kindergarten for her whole life. Syringeon had made her by the order of the dragons on the surface. Dragons still looked at her nervously sometimes, asking weird questions like 'do you remember anything that isn't from the kindergarten?' Or 'do you only have memories of a mascot life?'

The answer was always no. She didn't know why they asked her such weird things, nor why they even thought of those questions in the first place. She had been in this place her whole life. Right?
