Blueberry shifted his weight. The cool shade around him comforted him, though he never got out the scenes that had occurred years ago.

It had been ten years now since his sister, Toucan, had died. He had never truly recovered, yet he moved on with life. Losing a twin sister was heartbreaking.

He had a new sister now: a seven-year-old rainwing-nightwing called Firefly. Blueberry wouldn't admit it, but she reminded him of his sister. But due to the sibling code he couldn't truly show he liked her.

He was sixteen now. In High School with his friends, Bubble, Hawk, Taipan, Changbai, Peridot and Swamp. Bubble and Peridot were siblings: both seawings who were the dragonets of Coral. They had a sister who worked at their High School. Bubble was a blind, navy blue male and Peridot was a fluorescent green female.

Hawk was a dark red skywing. He had no siblings; and he was also adopted by his foster father, Thrush.

Taipan was a female sandwing. She had dusty golden-brown scales with flecked wings. She had unusually strong venom in her tail. She was part of the Outclaws, a group of secret identified dragons whose mission was to help those who could not help themselves. It was mainly Sandwings; though there were a few dragons from other tribes.

Changbai was an icewing. Her scales were white with very pale purple wings and spikes.  Her family were snooty rich icewings, though she was much nicer than them.

Swamp was a mudwing. She had dark brown scales, which were fireproof. She was basically their bigwings: the oldest sibling of a mudwing hatching who cared for the rest of their siblings.

At the moment they were all sitting in the shade of a beech tree in their high school campus. Taipan and Hawk seemed to be having an argument about whether Zooble was female or genderfluid- Blueberry definitely agreed on the second one. Meanwhile Bubble and Swamp had linked tails and were gazing (if you can say a blind dragon can gaze) at each other lovingly whilst Peridot and Changbai mockingly gagged next to them.

Blueberry looked down at a bug as it crawled past. He had a strange interest in bugs; he didn't really know why.

He was startled when he felt someone nudge his shoulder. It was one of his teachers, Clay. He had a worried look on his face.

"Blueberry," he said, folding in his wings. "Can you come inside for a moment? You're not in trouble, I just need to talk to you about something."

Blueberry nodded, standing up. Out of all of his teachers, he trusted Clay the most. He was a good friend of his mother, as with the rest of his teachers. But his mother had said he had been their bigwings.

They went through a hallway into an empty classroom. Blueberry recognized it as the history room, it was what Clay taught. Clay turned around in the center of the room and sat down. Blueberry sat down in front of him.

He was beginning to get worried. Clay usually had a cheerful look on; it was now replaced with concern and seriousness. This wasn't natural.

"As you know," Clay said, lifting his wings up. "Your sister has recently been going to Banban's kindergarten."

Blueberry's blood froze. Had something bad happened there again? Had he lost another sibling?

"Today was Bring-a-Friend Day. At one o'clock, the ball pit collapsed under the weight. The dragonets and teachers were taken down into the abyss. They could still be alive; we don't know yet. But for all we know, they could be dead. I'm sorry, Blueberry."

Blueberry stopped breathing. No. It couldn't be. How? How exactly had he lost two sisters in a row?

Without warning he felt a warm wing wrap around his back. He didn't have to look up to know it was Clay. He leaned forwards and rested his head on Clay's chest. He was good company at times like these.

But one sentence Clay had said kept replaying in his mind. 'They could still be alive; we don't know yet.' That clearly meant something. It made him think: was it possible to survive a fall like that? Was it possible that Firefly was still alive?

And better yet; was Toucan still down there?
