Joshua’s Pov
“How’s my sweet baby? Dear Joshua, do you hear me?”
“Yes, I hear you, grandma. Who's the prettiest grandma in this whole wide world? Mmhh, grandma?”
“Of course I am. Little Joshua; if I am not, then who can challenge my beauty?” Grandma says these words, and she giggles proudly at how beautiful she is.
“Grandma, would you grant me the honour to take such a beautiful woman as you to a date?” I asked, and a wide, bright smile appeared on her face as she shook her head in agreement with my request.
“But little Joshua, you always invite me out but until when.? You can't invite me out on dates forever. It's time you find a beautiful woman, to marry so I can finally have grandchildren. Do you want me to die, before I see my grandkids?.” she asked as annoyance showed in her appearance.
Shoot! Not again. She's going to nag me , again and try to set up blind dates for me. Grandma wants me to marry, more than I do. The last time the blind date went so wrong, she never tried to set up a blind date again.
"Grandma, it's still early. I have to concentrate on".
“ Early!? What do you mean by early? You're almost 29; you had enough time; now it's time to get married. Joshua, I have been patient with you. How much more time should I give you?” Grandma fumed.
“Should I die so you can finally fulfil my request?”
“Grandma, why are you talking like this? Why would you think I would wish for your death?”
“Oh, keep quiet! Was I not a good mom to you? Is thinking, about your welfare a bother to you? Am I a bother to you?”
“No, grandma. That’s not the case; you know how much I love you. You are not only my grandma but also my mother. I love you so much. I respect you more than Life.”
“Get married then. If you love me. Find a woman and marry her. Prove to me that what you are saying is true. And if you can't. Forget you have a grandma.” She was so angry. I have never seen her this angry ,until today. What happened? making this reaction from her?
"Grandma, please listen, grandma, grandma.” She opened the door, and left me as she walked out. I quickly follow her until she reaches her room and closes her door.
“Mom, please listen to me; open the door. Maa! Grandma, please open the door. I am sorry; I never meant to make you feel that way. Please open the door.”
Was I really ungrateful? If she hurts herself, then I will never forgive myself. She was not only my grandmother but also my mother.
After Mom died, she took on the responsibility of taking care of me. She never left my side, and she was always my support system. She never disappointed me, but today I disappointed her.
“Joseph, what's wrong? Did something happen to Mother?” Good Dad is here.
“Dad I don’t know why she locked herself inside the room. Dad, please talk to her; tell her to come out.”
“Mom, it's Atem; please open the door; Joshua is scared.”
"Atem, if you don't tell that son of yours to find a wife then I will never leave this room. I will starve myself to death.” Grandma said with determination.
“Mom, please don't say that. Come out and let's talk peacefully.”
“Dad, please ask grandma to come out.” I begged my dad to talk to Grandma; she shouldn't do this.
“Son, go; I will talk to your grandma.”
“But dad,” I don't want to leave her.
“ leave. I will handle this. Leave now!” Dad insisted, and I had no choice but to do as he said.
