"No."
Your face dropped at his response, your gaze averting in shame. "I won't press it, but I've talked it out with Sayaka and she seems worthy of forgiving."
"Have we forgotten what brought us into this situation?" Muichiro questioned—you swore that his eye twitched. "Jiro inviting us to meet him at an alleyway, me getting beaten to a pulp, and now you want me to have lunch with his number one supporter?"
You watched him spin back around in his chair to face his work, his face dismissive and annoyed. "I understand, but we should at least discuss what happened. We can't just keep pushing it behind us."
"I can and I will." He replied half-mindedly. "Just because you believe that she has it within her capacity to do good, doesn't mean that I should immediately forgive her for everything that she did to me."
"You forget sometimes," Muichiro continued, "that just because someone had something bad happen to them, doesn't mean that they should automatically be forgiven."
You stared silently at him from the spot on his bed that you were sitting on, your hands planted into the soft fabric of the bed covers. He seemed irked now, his brows knitted together as he rested his cheek in his palm. He didn't even look up from his homework to glance at you, absorbed in whatever world of work he was in at that moment.
"I understand." You sighed, folding your hands into your lap neatly. "I just wanted to ask you if you wanted to come, since I'm going."
"What, so she can beat you up too?"
"Just to give her a chance," you answered. "You're giving me one right now, so I decided to pass the mercy to the next person."
Finally looking away from his desk and pushing his chair out so he could stand up, he glanced over at you. "This sounds a little familiar, doesn't it?" He chuckled, slowly approaching you. "You and your good friend, who you've learned to trust so much, are now going to a secluded area with this new person in hopes of a good time."
"That's not what's going to happen."
"Then what is?!" He leaned over you, his hands planted straight on both sides of your legs. "What, pray tell, are you expecting to happen? Do you think you're going to hold hands with her and sing a song about friendship?"
You narrowed your eyes at him, refusing to back down. "I trust Ume, and Sayaka wouldn't go as far as to hurt me after all she told me!"
At that very exclamation, Muichiro's eyes widened.
"I don't like that Arakawa kid, 'chiro. He isn't going to be there, right?"
"No way, Yuichiro! Worst case scenario: I trust that Y/N wouldn't let something like that happen, and I think Arakawa is finally laying off a little on me."
"Alright, just be careful in that case."
If he could've reprimanded Yuichiro for letting him run off with Y/N that day, he would do so without hesitation. Talking to Y/N was exactly like talking to talking to his younger self; naive and far too trusting. The determined glint in her eyes, reminiscent of his, shook him straight to his core.
