"Yuichiro, you're in charge while we're off. It'll just be a few weeks--promise. Don't let Muichiro go running off with that L/N girl again. I don't want him getting into yet another bloody incident."
"Understood, father."
Watching the door click shut behind them--he knows that those few weeks will turn into at least two months--younger Yuichiro stared blankly at the poorly painted shut door. He waited like a dog would wait for its owner, staring at the door and expecting it to open soon enough. His parents would always do this. He thought that people who go traveling that much for work would be rich enough to get a place in a nicer area, but it wasn't something he wanted to think too hard about.
He waited, the quiet whirring of the fridge and the voices on the television serving as ambience.
"How long?"
Yuichiro whipped his head to see his little brother, standing tall around the corner of the hallway past the living room. Small bags littered the under creases of his eyes, accompanied by a reddish tint. "They said a few weeks."
Muichiro pouted. "They always say that..."
"They told me to not let you go around Iwata with Y/N anymore." Yuichiro added. "Something about you two always getting into trouble. She's like a bad omen."
"She's not a bad omen." The younger of the two frowned. "They always say that."
"I'm not going to stop you." The eldest one sighed. "Just--be careful, 'kay?"
Muichiro groaned and waddled back into his room, slamming the door on and leaving Yuichiro is nearly complete silence once more. The later, hotter months of two-thousand-and-four brought within an anger and crankiness within every soul that lived in the miserable region of the Shizuoka Prefecture that the twins called home.
Yuichiro moved to sit on the couch, his face blank as he attempted to occupy himself with the news on the television.

Muichiro still came to see you that day, his brother's warning in the back of his mind.
Fourteen-year old you was sitting on a park bench, staring emptily at the horde of crows in front of you. He could notice the slightest kicking of your feet, but he couldn't help be noticed at the congregation of birds in front of you.
"Did you know a group of crows is called a murder?" Muichiro slid into the spot beside you, smiling down at the various caws and screeches each crow cried out. You turned your head to face him and grinned widely before wrapping your arms around him in a tight embrace.
"You're here!" You cheered. His hand moved to tour back, patting you a few times and resting his chin on your shoulder. "My mom's friends with this one lady from the nearby cafe shop around the corner. Let's get free pastries!"
He tittered, moving away to stare at you as soon as you released your grip around him. "Alrighty, if you say so."
Throughout the day, he let you drag him across Iwata and just about everything that surrounded the town. Whatever topics seemed the most relevant, you both didn't care, you both just seemed to talk your mouths off till sunset.
