"I do not give a damn if you don't believe..."

-

It was nearly a week into their lessons, and Y/N was satisfied with her performance of Olivia Pike so far, feeling as though she had convinced everyone that she needed to- students, staff, even Peeves did not recognise her during her first time as student, which was the biggest relief of all. Peeves had held somewhat of a soft spot for her, with her sharing her stupid ideas and pranks with him before she knew the twins, meaning he could increase his chaos even more. To him, he was getting it all. He wreaked more havoc without even having to think of what to do, and then got to take all the credit for it! She had even become somewhat civil with Harry, Ron and Hermione through Cedric who awkwardly and silently spent time with Harry. He didn't have much to say to the three of them, but would tag along and occasionally attempt a joke or two. It was through this connection that Y/N was able to hear the beginning of Umbridge's character.

"She's utterly ridiculous, her and her ministry approved syllabus. We won't learn anything this year!" Hermione cried, flinging her arms around and she paced back and forth.

Y/N and Cedric slid themselves onto the end of the bench that Harry and Ron were sat on, all four of them watching as Hermione continued to vent.

"And what she said to you Harry- giving you detention- its all just so-"

"Ridiculous?" Ron finished for her. "Yeah, you mentioned, once or twice." He rolled his eyes to Harry, who sent a half-hearted smirk his way.

"What happened?" Y/N asked, concerned about the detention Hermione had mentioned.

"Umbridge." Harry replied bluntly.

"We had our first lesson with her today, and it was-"

"Ridiculous." All four of them finished for the girl, wishing she would find some new vocabulary that they knew she held in the dictionary of a mind she had.

"Yes, well, it was. She started talking about how our previous education in the subject had been rubbish, which, I mean she's not wrong. Other than Lupin," Y/N felt herself tense at the name. "Our teachers haven't exactly been great. But the textbook she gave us! Honestly, we won't learn a thing. But then she had the audacity to tell us that we wouldn't even be using magic! I mean, how can she expect us to learn how to defend ourselves without using magic? She said that the theory will be enough to get us through our exams- which, I might add, it will not."

Harry and Ron sighed, having already heard the spiel on top of having been there themselves.

"And then, well, Harry and her had a bit of an argument." Her voice quietened slightly, trying to broach the topic more delicately because of her new audience. "She asked Harry who would want to harm us as children, and he said that erm, you-know-who would..."

This time it was Cedric's turn to tense, awkwardly coughing and looking over his shoulder, trying to distract himself.

"I'm sorry Cedric, I-" Hermione's guilt was apparent for having brought up the topic that Cedric had been trying so desperately to avoid from everyone for the last few days, being broached again and again by mainly first years.

"Yeah, no it's fine. Don't worry about it. I think I might go and find Cho or something..." He excused himself, standing up and leaving, eyes stuck to the floor. The others watched him leave, sympathy filled.

"What happened next?" Y/N asked.

"Well, Umbridge got mad and basically accused Harry of lying, saying that Dumbledore was a fool to believe the imaginings of children. Harry then brought up Cedric, asking how he ended up at St. Mungos with extensive head injuries. Umbridge said that what happened in the maze was a huge accident, fuelled by high spirited competitiveness, but Harry didn't back down. He told her that he saw and fought you-know-who, and that was it, Umbridge was fuming. She told Harry he had a detention, tonight, and then moved on like nothing happened."
