Moxxie sat at the dinner table with a book in hand. The room had a cozy atmosphere. Sounds of raindrops hitting the glass windows made everything feel calm and relaxing. His eyes read the story within the book, but he found it hard to focus. Millie had left a while ago on some last-minute errands and hadn't returned yet. Moxxie wasn't super worried since Millie could probably take out anybody she came across, but he still wondered where she was.

Thunder roared from outside. Moxxie turned his head to the sound of the front doorknob turning. He eagerly stood up and approached the door. It swung open with power as Millie revealed herself to have kicked it open. Her hands appeared to be occupied, holding something else.

Moxxie: "Millie, you're back!"

Millie: "Sorry, hun. Had a little thing pop-up on the way back."

Moxxie looked closer at what she was holding. He noticed the soaked dark gray fur, the drooped ears, and the snout. His eyes widened at realizing she was holding a hellhound.

Moxxie: "Millie, who is that?!"

Millie: "Him? A pup I found outside. Poor things shivering faster than a jacked up cicada."

Her husband was unsure how to respond. Millie walked past him and gently set the young hound down on the couch.

Moxxie: "So... you just kidnapped a hellhound?"

Millie: "Mox, the poor thang was laying in the rain all alone with no one around. Plus, look!"

Millie gestured for him to come over. She pointed out the terrible condition the pup's legs were in. Moxxie was shocked.

Moxxie: "Oh... who could leave someone like this?"

Millie: "I don't know, but I couldn't just leave 'em just out their, lost and scared."

Moxxie: "O-Ok, ok. What do you need me to do?"

Millie smiled at her husband's jump in to assist. She kissed him and looked back at the exhausted pup.

Millie: "Can you grab one of the spare blankets from the closet? The kid needs to warm up after being out there."

Moxxie nodded and headed towards the hallway. Millie sat down on the couch next to the wet hound. Her hand caressed his head, and the boy flinched in his slumber. She couldn't imagine what the pup must have been through or seen.

[Meanwhile]

A calm silence filled Jack's room. Even with Loona's damp fur, the man felt warm and safe in his lover's arms. Neither of them knew how long they had been like this. The hellhound felt his heartbeat against her chest, beating soft and slow. Jack lifted his head, and the two kissed.

Jack: "Hey... you don't mind staying with me for a bit longer?"

Loona: "Course not. I can be here for as long as you want me to."

Jack: "T-Thanks. I-I love you, Loona."

Her heart couldn't help but skip a beat every time he said those words. She chuckled.

Loona: "Love you too, dork."

Jack smiled. In her arms, Jack felt so safe, safe from everything around him, like in a little bubble. Her soft and warm body just made the human even more comfy, like laying on clouds. His eyes drooped, and he started to breathe slower. The fatigue from his countless nights of little to no sleep was catching up to him. Maybe this time, it was ok to close his eyes...
