But I love it when you smile

𝔸𝕊 the baby, Pubert, was crawling on the floor in the main foyer, Pugsley and Wednesday were holding an anvil up by a rope, waiting for the perfect moment when Pubert was directly underneath it. They watched intently, calculating the timing with dark precision. Just as they were about to let go of the rope, Debbie appeared, swooping in and picking up Pubert, walking away from the danger zone. The anvil crashed to the floor, breaking through with a resounding thud.
Wednesday looked down, annoyed by the missed opportunity, while Pugsley edged a bit away from his brother, sensing his irritation. Debbie stood on the stairs, holding Pubert, as Morticia and Gomez descended.
"We'll be going out for most of the morning. All the important numbers: police, fire department, morgue," Morticia said, handing Debbie a note. She and Gomez continued down the stairs, preparing to leave. Gomez called out, "Fester, come along!" Fester hurried down the stairs, pausing awkwardly in front of Debbie. "Goodbye, Fester," she said sweetly. Gomez prompted, "Say goodbye to Debbie."
Fester mumbled incoherently, clearly flustered, before following Gomez and Morticia out the door. "Have fun!" Debbie called after them, waving energetically as the door shut behind them.

Debbie sat on the chair near the desk in the study, sorting through Fester's documents with an air of focused greed. Pubert was crawling on the floor, occasionally stopping to inspect the odd piece of dust or lint. "Hmm. Hmm. Hmm. Fester Addams. My, my. Stocks and bonds, deeds, gold bullion," she murmured, her eyes widening with every item she read. She flipped through the papers rapidly, absorbed in her discovery.
A faint squeak from the armour in the corner made her glance up momentarily, but seeing nothing, she returned to her task. "Treasury bills, IRAs," she continued, her voice growing more excited.
Another squeak was heard, this time sounding like it came from the floorboards. Debbie's eyes darted up again, scanning the room with growing unease. She saw nothing out of the ordinary, but the eerie feeling of being watched started to creep over her.
"What a strange, old house. It's so drafty. It's really no place for children," she said aloud, trying to comfort herself with the sound of her own voice. Her eyes landed on a dark corner where she spotted Wednesday, camouflaged and watching her intently. Debbie's nervousness turned to a menacing resolve as she realized she was not alone. "No place at all," she added in a threatening tone, her eyes locking with Wednesday. The silent challenge hung in the air between them, an unspoken acknowledgment of the battle lines being drawn.
