Lavanya's days had settled into a routine three months after her marriage. She woke up before anyone else in the family, quietly moving through the house to start her day. She began by preparing for the morning pooja, laying out the items and lighting the lamp. Her mother-in-law, Meena, joined her, and together they performed the rituals, their prayers filling the peaceful morning air.
After the pooja, Lavanya woke up the other family members according to their schedules. She gently woke Arun at 4:30 am, making sure he had enough time to get ready for college and catch his bus. Next, she woke Varun at 6:30 am, reminding him of his exercise routine and preparing his bath for office. She also woke her father-in-law, Raghavan, in time for his coffee.
Lavanya made sure Varun's clothes were neatly ironed and laid out, with his watch, tie, and napkin ready. She prepared breakfast and packed lunch boxes, tailoring the meals to everyone's preferences. Her efficient morning routine ensured that everything ran smoothly, and everyone left on time for their respective tasks.
In Chennai, water shortages were common, so Lavanya often had to fetch water from a distance when there was a power cut. She then cleaned the house, dusting and wiping surfaces, and making sure everything was in its place. She loaded the washing machine with clothes and washed the utensils.
Meena helped Lavanya prepare lunch. After they had eaten and cleaned up, Lavanya gathered the dried clothes, ironed them, and put them away. She checked the household supplies, noting what needed to be restocked. This included everything from toothpaste to room fresheners.
Lavanya handled necessary shopping, paying bills, and getting things fixed. She also enjoyed some downtime, watching television, gossiping with neighbors, and learning new household tips. She often went for walks, finding time to relax amidst her busy schedule.
Lavanya called her parents daily, chatting for hours and sharing updates. She prepared coffee, tea, and snacks for the family in the evening. Dinner was another carefully planned meal, considering everyone's tastes. After dinner, she cleaned up, washed the utensils, and prepared the beds. She checked the door locks and other security measures before finally winding down.
She bonded with her family members in her own way by showing her care and concern. Whether it was as a wife to Varun, a daughter-in-law to Meena and Raghavan, or a sister-in-law to Arun and Deepa, Lavanya's dedication to her family's well-being was evident in everything she did.
Lavanya found joy in being part of the family. Her daily routine was more than just chores; it was her way of showing love and care for everyone. She connected with each member, understanding their needs and preferences, and ensuring their lives ran smoothly. This brought her a sense of fulfillment and happiness.
But deep down, there was a question in her heart.
