Arun’s confession hung heavy in the room. He and Aarti stood before their families.
The room fell into stunned silence. Lavanya, already emotionally drained from recent events, felt her heart sink even further.
Raghavan, with a heavy heart, asked, “Why didn’t you trust us to help you?”
Arun’s eyes filled with tears. “I was scared. I didn’t want to disappoint you. I thought marrying her was the only way to make things right.”
Deepa, who had arrived after receiving Lavanya’s call, till now listening silently her brother confession looked at her him with a mix of pity and frustration. “Arun, we are your family. We are here to support you, but you should have come to us first.”
Lavanya felt a pang of sympathy for Arun. She understood the fear of not being accepted, of making a mistake and facing judgment. But she also knew the importance of trust and honesty in a family.
“Arun,” Lavanya said softly, “you should have trusted us. We could have helped you.”
Arun nodded, tears streaming down his face. “I’m so sorry. I know I made a mistake.”
Meena, wiping her tears, spoke up. “We need to meet Aarti and her family. We need to sort this out together.”
Varun, still processing everything, said, “Arun, you need to apologize to mom and dad. They are the most hurt by this.”
Arun nodded, his voice choked with emotion. “I will. I promise.”
He knew they had a long road ahead, but with understanding and support, they could navigate this together.
The family spent the next few hours discussing how to handle the situation. They decided to visit Aarti’s family the next day and try to resolve the matter peacefully.
