Aether was running through some kind of field. The sky was blood red, and there was destruction all over, but no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't recall what was happening.

He panted as he continued running, fearing something he didn't remember, but he ran nonetheless.

He reached a sort of wall of some kind. As he turned around, something flew at him, and as it hit him, he shot up, gasping for air.

"What's wrong, Traveler? Did you have a nightmare?" Paimon asked with a worried expression as she rubbed the sleepiness her eyes.

After taking a moment to collect his thoughts, Aether nodded. "I guess so... but it felt... familiar somehow."

"Familiar? In what way?"

"I don't know... I just felt like I've seen it before, but no matter how hard I try, I can't remember.." Aether sighed at the inconvenience of it all. He was slightly more impatient these days, and he really wanted to remember why that dream felt so familiar.

"Well.. no use dwelling on it now, you said it was a nightmare after all" Paimon said, trying to lighten Aethers mood with her happiness like usual, and it worked. He felt better and smiled at her.

"I guess you're right, Paimon... thanks." He smiles softly as he sat up in the makeshift shelter he had made from the giant tree leaves in Sumeru's Avidia forest.

"No problem!" Paimon smiled with pride as she saw how she made Aether feel better.

The two of them got ready for the day a bit, deciding to wash their hair in a lake or river like usual (eugh brotha 🤢)

After they finished getting ready, Aether dismantled their shelter and pulled out a map. He scanned it for a moment before pointing to a place that seemed interesting to explore and glancing at Paimon, who nodded in agreement, and they went on their way.

After they got their, they looked around, took pictures of the cool view, and got some good loot.

They were playing around, messing with a mushroom when Aether suddenly felt like he was being watched.

He glanced around nervously but didn't find the sorce. "What's wrong, Traveler?" He flinched at the sudden voice.

"N-nothing, I just thought I saw something." he smiled nervously, and Painon noticed, hut she decided she wouldn't push it. "If you say so..."

They continued exploring, but the feeling of being watched never went away. It only went away for a moment when he turned to look for its source.

"Do you think we should head to Fontain?" Aether said as an excuse to leave this place. "Sure! I've heard its water is clearer than any other nation!"

The two of them made their way to fontain through the desert, but the feeling of being watched never went away.

After they got to the ledge that overlooks a boat harbor, Aether felt something behind him.

He quickly spun around and saw an abyss herald standing before him. He pulled his sword out quickly, and Paimon got behind him "EEK! What's that doing all the way out here!?"

"I don't know, Paimon... stay behind m-" the abyss herald cut him off by attacking quickly, Aether blocked it and began fighting back.

After a long fight, Aether was victorious, and the abyss herald fled, but he was still confused.

"Why would it come here of all places...? Did it want to fight me specifically? And if so, why?" He muttered out questions and confused Paimon.

She shook him but he was so lost in thought he didn't notice.

"TRAVELER!!" She yelled out as she slapped Aether slightly. He blinked a few times and glanced at Paimon.

"Sorry, I zoned out for a moment, we should continue to Fontaine..."

They talked on the way to the harbor and theorized why the abyss herald would be here of all places, and if it was here, would Dain be here as well?

Aether sighed internally as they got off the boat they had taken to the harbor, and they started their journey in Fontaine.
