(warning: fluff but some swearing)
As Lily and Chase removed their vests and uniforms, and changed to their casual clothes, Lily started a conversation with Chase.
"Hey Chase," Lily called out as she unpacked her bag, do you mind if we share a room tonight?" Chase smiled, grateful for the chance to spend more time with Lily and strengthen their bond as teammates.
"Haha, I was about to tell you that because I trust you the most." Chase replied, feeling a sense of camaraderie and trust growing between them. Lily's smile widened, relieved to have such a supportive and understanding roommate for the night.
"You know, I was genuinely surprised you enlisted to the military." Chase asked Lily why she enlisted.
"One part of me wants to serve my country and make a difference, and the other part wants to fight alongside you." Chase nodded, touched by Lily's honesty and determination. "I'm glad to have you by my side," he said, feeling a surge of pride in their shared mission. Lily's eyes sparkled with gratitude, knowing that they had made a formidable team both on and off the battlefield.
"I couldn't ask for a better partner," she replied, feeling a deep sense of camaraderie with Chase.
Eclipse (the advisor of commander) went inside the room and kind of disrupted the moment, reminding them of the impending mission briefing. "We'll continue this conversation later," Chase said, giving Lily a reassuring smile before turning his attention to Eclipse.
"Fuck you, man, I was in the middle of a conversation!" Chase exclaimed, frustrated by the interruption.
"Jesus Christ, man, I was just asking for a towel!" Eclipse responded, chuckling at Chase's outburst before proceeding with the mission briefing. Chase and Lily exchanged amused glances, their bond stronger than ever as they prepared for the challenges ahead.
"Just get it from my bag, you'll find one." Chase said, rolling his eyes playfully at Eclipse's antics.
"Now get out!" Chase said, laughing as Eclipse made a mock dramatic exit. Lily couldn't help but smile at the camaraderie between the two friends, grateful for their lighthearted banter before facing the serious task ahead.
"Anyways, back to the conversation." Chase said, trying to steer the focus away from Eclipse's silly behavior.
"But Chase, I have a question," Lily interjected, eager to address a pressing concern before they delved back into the briefing.
"Go ahead," Chase replied, giving her his full attention as they continued their preparations for the challenges that lay ahead.
"Who made you inspired to join the military? Especially when you were just 18 at the time." Lily asked, genuinely curious about Chase's motivations for choosing such a demanding career path at a young age. Chase paused for a moment, reflecting on his past before sharing the story of his grandfather, a war hero whose legacy had always inspired him to serve his country with honor and courage.
"I-Its alright if you don't answer!" Lily quickly interjected, sensing the emotional weight of Chase's response. "I appreciate you sharing that with me," she said softly, showing her understanding and support for his personal connection to the military.
"But here is when it started. I joined the military because of my parents, when they passed, I wanted to fulfill their legacies by joining the military, and I've never looked back since." Lily nodded in understanding, grateful for Chase's vulnerability and the insight into his motivation for serving.
"Your parents would be proud of the honorable path you've chosen," she said sincerely, admiring his dedication to honoring their memory through his service.
" I'm sure they are looking down on you with pride." Lily's eyes sparkled with admiration as she listened to Chase's story, feeling a deeper connection to him through his heartfelt explanation.
"You know what? Screw it." Lily hugged Chase tightly, feeling a surge of respect and admiration for his strength and determination.
"I'm grateful to have you as my childhood friend," she whispered, knowing that their bond had grown even stronger through this shared moment of vulnerability.
"I'm speechless... I don't know what else to say," Chase replied softly, returning the hug with equal emotion.
"Wait Lily, are you crying?" Chase asked, noticing a tear rolling down her cheek. Lily chuckled through her tears, feeling overwhelmed by the depth of their friendship and the emotions that came with it.
Lily hugged him tighter, grateful for his unwavering support and understanding. "Thank you for always being there for me," she whispered, feeling a sense of comfort in their unspoken connection.
"I don't know what I would do without you." Lily sobbed, feeling a weight lifted off her shoulders as she let out her pent-up emotions. Chase held her close, silently reassuring her that he would always be by her side no matter what.
"Same with you, Lily, same with you." Chase whispered, his voice filled with sincerity and love. Lily knew in that moment that their bond was unbreakable, no matter what challenges they faced in the future.
"You love me, do you?" Chase asked, a smile playing on his lips as he looked into Lily's tear-filled eyes. Lily nodded, feeling grateful for the unwavering support and love she found in Chase.
"I do, more than you'll ever know," she replied, feeling a sense of peace wash over her as they held each other tightly.
"Alright love, calm down now." Chase whispered, gently wiping away Lily's tears as he held her close. "We'll get through this together, I promise." Lily felt a wave of relief knowing that Chase would always be there for her, no matter what challenges they may face in the future.
"Screw it..." Chase leaned Lily over for a kiss that was filled with love and reassurance, reminding her that they were in this together. Lily's heart swelled with gratitude for having Chase by her side, knowing that their bond was unbreakable.
"Chase, can we sleep now?" Lily asked, feeling the weight of the day's events finally catching up to her. Chase nodded, pulling Lily closer as they settled down for the night, finding comfort in each other's presence.
"Ok, love." Chase whispered, planting a gentle kiss on Lily's forehead before closing his eyes, feeling grateful for the love they shared. Lily drifted off to sleep feeling safe and loved, knowing that Chase would always be there to protect her.
1:00 AM, Nusian time,
Chase couldn't sleep as he kept watch over Lily, his protective instincts kicking in. He vowed to always be there for her, no matter what challenges they may face together.
Lily tossed and turned in her sleep, feeling Chase's presence beside her and finding solace in his protective aura. She knew that with him by her side, she could face anything that came their way.
"Chase, can we cuddle? I'm feeling cold." Chase immediately wrapped his arms around Lily, pulling her close to him. As they snuggled together, Lily felt a sense of warmth and security wash over her, knowing that Chase was always there for her.
After they cuddled, Chase quickly drifted off to sleep, his steady breathing lulling Lily into a peaceful slumber as well.
"I love you Lily, I really do..." Chase said in his mind , hoping that Lily could somehow hear his thoughts. Lily stirred slightly in her sleep, a small smile forming on her lips as if she could feel Chase's love surrounding her.
