"You said you'd do anything to make up for what happened that night. Were you serious?" he asked cautiously.

"Yeah, of course," she nodded.

"Will you please come to my place for the night?" Jungkook looked desperate. He needed her help urgently. However, his words conveyed a completely different meaning to Y/n.

"W-What are you saying?" she stammered, taking a step back to distance herself from him. Jungkook's eyes widened as he realized how absurd he must have sounded.

"Oh, shit! No! That's not what I meant," he tried to explain quickly.

Y/N nodded, waiting for him to continue. "Actually, it's regarding Seol. Would it be alright if I explain everything in the car?" Jungkook hoped she would agree. Hearing Seol's name, she didn't hesitate and agreed immediately.

"What's wrong with him?" Y/N asked.

Jungkook sighed, "He's had a high fever for a few days now."

"What do you mean, a few days? What are the doctors doing?" Y/N's heartbeat quickened with concern.

"A team of top doctors is available around the clock, and even a group of psychologists is trying to find a solution, but nothing is working. At this point, he won't eat and just cries, calling for you. That's why I had no choice but to reach out to you," Jungkook confessed.

Y/N's stomach twisted at this information, anxiety surging through her. She didn't know how to react. She knew Seol was attached to her, but to this extent?

In just a few weeks, Y/N had also grown quite attached to him, more than she should have. Seol reminded her of the child she could have had in her past life. She still hadn't fully healed from the trauma of losing that child, a pain she couldn't share with anyone, since that child now existed only in her imagination and would never be a reality.

Gradually, Seol might have become a substitute for that child. It wasn't fair to the poor kid who loved her unconditionally, yet she couldn't help but use him to channel her motherly affection, unsure if she could continue once she healed and moved on. She didn't know if she truly adored Seol or if it was just the lingering effects of years of loneliness.

"Am I leading him on?" Y/N felt guilty. Lost in her thoughts, she stared out the window, tears threatening to fall. She blinked a few times to hold them back, though her throat hurt from suppressing her cries.

"I'm sorry if it's too much of a hassle," Jungkook mumbled.

"It's not," Y/N denied almost immediately.

They drove in silence for a while, the weight of their thoughts heavy in the car. Y/N's mind raced, trying to find a solution for Seol and grapple with her own feelings. She knew she had to help, no matter the personal cost.

Finally, she turned to Jungkook. "I'll do whatever I can to help him," she said, her voice steady despite the turmoil inside. "Let's get to him quickly."

Soon, they arrived at his villa in Elitedwell, the wealthiest locality in the city. The area was renowned for its grand mansions, each boasting personal gardens and pools. Only the country's elite could afford to live here.

Despite the exquisite surroundings, Y/N had no time to admire the beauty.

They hurried inside, where a team of doctors was gathered in the living room. A psychiatrist was in Seol's room, trying to persuade him to eat something.

Jungkook led Y/N directly to Seol's room.

"Okay, let's make a deal. How about you finish this bowl of soup, and we'll get you something special in return?" Kim Seokjin tried his last trick, which usually worked when Seol threw tantrums or refused to do something. However, today, Seol merely turned his face away and stared sullenly at the paintbrushes Y/N had given him, sitting beside his bed.
