A week has passed since the accident with that huge bat, yet Lucy, Levy and Freed started to do some new research on some forgotten spells, as if nothing happened.
This time they were trying to find someting to exhaust an enemy of their magical power and send it to the caster. They prepared two magical circles on the library's floor. Normally, it would be kind of difficult to draw them in battle, but the trio was sure they could find a way to do that if only they could learn that spell.
Obviosly, Levy couldn't test the enchantment on herself, so, Freed positioned himself in the caster's circle and Lucy stood in the opponent's.
They made sure to check the letters written on the floor, before nodding to each other."Come on, Freed! Let's test it!" Lucy encouraged. Despite the usually disastrous events, she couldn't help but be excited every time they had to experiment a spell.
Freed nodded. He could totally understand her, trying some new charms always gave him a certain thrill.
He started the enchantment and the circles started glowing purple. All of them held their breath. Then, the light dissipated and they looked at each other for a while, before noticing that nothing happened.
Freed sighed. He was pretty sure he wrote the right runes, yet it was obvious he missed someting. He didn't notice when Lucy moved towards him until she was right in front of him.
"It doesn't matter if nothing happened, i'm sure we will get it next time. We just have to keep trying" she reasoned. When she noticed that the rune mage didn't seem to mind their closeness, she took his left hand in hers.
"But we already made sure the spell was correct in every way" he retorted, blushing a little at her gesture. "What else could we be missing?"It took Lucy a few moments before answering, but then she smiled brightly at him "I don't know. But I don't think we should just give up like that. It could take us a few more days, or even weeks, but I'm sure we will get it right." She wispered softly at him "Plus, I wouldn't even mind, because staying with you is really fun!" She added, her eyes glued to his for the entire speech.
Freed thought she looked like an angel when she smiled like that.
Levy was a bit taken aback when she saw her best friend take their guildmate's hand in hers, mostly because they never did something like this before. Her suspicious started to grow when she saw the faint blush adorning the rune mage's cheeks.
THAT was definitely weird.
Everyone in the guild were aware that their friend was homosexual, despite the rune mage's attempts to hide it. He was a little bashful when it came to his feelings. However, Fairy Tail loved their comrade a lot, so they made sure he understood his sexual preferences wouldn't change that.
Some even tried to set him up with his leader, Laxus Dreyar. Freed obviosly had a crush on him, but he preferred non to say anything. That didn't change the fact that Freed never loved anyone else, so it was indeed strange that he would blush at a girl just like that.
Then there was Lucy.
Her relationship with his teammate, Nastu, was weird. Sometimes they would act like a couple, like wife and husband, like there was an invisible thread tied to their wrists. But in reality they weren't together. Sometimes Levy wondered if they even realised they had feelings for each other.
But just like Freed, Lucy never loved anyone else other than a dense dragonslayer whose only quirk was to be able to fight.
The petite mage's train of thoughts got interrupted when she realised her friends were moving dangerously towards each other, only a few millimeters separating their lips.
