You wake up in the middle of the night and Cooper is just sitting next to you on the bed. You're still hooked up to the RadAway. You turn your head and you see him zoning out. He doesn't notice you. He is twirling a vial in his hand.

"Hey." You say as softly as you can. Trying not to spook him.

He still jumps a bit. "Feeling better?" He asks as he turns his head to look at you. Still twirling the vial.

"A little. I'll be fine. What's with the vial?" You ask as you sit up now.

"It's a reminder of who I was." He says as he stops twirling it. "You don't want to hear about that." He says and gets up to put it in his bag.

"Tell me. I love you so I want to know as much about you as possible. Let me into that heart I know you have." You say. He walks back to the bed and sits next to you on the edge.

"It was an actual bullet that went through me during a movie. Caused me to stop working for a week until I healed. I keep it as a reminder of who I was and how good of a cowboy I was. It's stupid but I keep it anyways." He says looking at the bag of RadAway that is almost gone.

"I don't think it's stupid. I kept a reminder from the vault." You reach for your pocket and pull out a coin. It's worn. The edges are smooth and it has the number 33 barely visible. "I kept this and rub it for luck. It's something I did as a kid and continue to do it everyday. After learning the truth, I don't know why I keep it but I do." You say putting it back in your pocket.

"Get some rest. We have a big walk tomorrow. We have to go see someone about a bounty." He kisses your head and you go back to bed.

You suddenly wake up and grab Cooper. You startle him but you scream in pain. You grab your stomach and curl into a ball. He is quick by your side. "What is wrong? Y/N? Answer me." He pleads out. You pass out from the pain.

When you came to, coop was carrying his bag on his shoulder, your bag on his back, and he was carrying you bridal style. He was weeding a bit but you moved your hand to his chest. "Put me down. I will try to walk." You say all groggy and clearly still in pain.

"Y/N are you alright? What the fuck happened?" He says as calmly as he can without panicking. He puts you down softly on your feet.

You still hang onto his arm for stability but you both walk to the next destination. "I don't know what is happening but I will be ok. I think I just need a stempak. I'm fine." You breathe out.

He turns to you and grabs your throat just enough to make you really look at him. "Don't ever do that to me again. I...I..." he trails off and takes a long deep breath. "I can't loose you. I haven't been able to trust a lot of people in this world." He finally says letting go of your throat. He leans his forehead against yours. You kiss him gently and you feel your cheek become wet. You pull away slightly and see cooper with a tear running down his cheek.

"Don't cry. I didn't mean to scare you. Please stop crying." You plead a bit. He wipes his eyes and replies, "it's allergies Y/N. Don't think of yourself so highly." He smirks and you do too. You both keep walking.

You have been walking for a few hours and finally have to stop before your pain gets worse. The sun was dying down. You both decide to make camp by an abandoned side of a crumpled building. You slump into the sand as cooper makes a shelter and fire.

You lay in the sand and stare at the fire and hold your stomach. You try not to show your pain but Cooper knows it. He sits next to you and throws a blanket over you. You shiver a little but grip the blanket more. He lays your head on his lap.

"What do you need?" He asks as he strokes your head and rubs your shoulder.

"How many stempaks do we have?" You ask biting your lip trying not to cry.
