Jaxon's Perspective-

I yawned as I walked to my bedroom. I was about to blow out the candle on my desk when a gust of wind blew it out for me.

My eyes widened and I saw that the window was cracked open.

"Oh...it was just wind." I laughed nervously and gently shut the window.

"Oh but was it?"

I jumped at the sound of someone whispering.

"W-who's there?" I asked nervously.

I noticed a puddle of black poison on the ground and a black demonic being shot up.

I yelped and scooted back against my bed.

"P-please don't hurt me!" I begged.

"Oh, don't worry, that's exactly what I'm going to do."

"Wha- wait- Xornoth? Is that your voice? What the fuck are you doing?"

The sound of guards running to my room filled the halls and the demon shot black goo at the door, causing it to seal shut.

"S-stop! Please don't hurt me!" I said, screaming as a gooey hand shot at me and threw me onto the floor.

I coughed and crumpled into a ball on the floor.

"Stop- please." I said hoarsely, my vision growing blurry.

The demon slowly disappeared, and I saw Xornoth, who fainted.

My eyes widened and I tried to stand up before falling back down.

"W-why." I whispered before completely passing out.

The black goo around the door weakened and the guards burst through to see Xornoth and Jaxon lying on the floor, both hurt and unconscious.

The Next Day (Scott's Perspective)-

Scott woke up and went to check up on his brother to see if he was okay after the meeting yesterday.

Scott knocked on Xornoth's door gently so he wouldn't wake him up if he was still asleep.

"Xornoth? Are you awake? I just wanted to talk about yesterday. I'm sorry if Jaxon did anything to upset you."

There was no response.

Scott hesitated before sighing, "I- you must still be asleep, sorry."

He walked downstairs and saw his parents whispering to each other.

Scott made eye contact with his father who smiled nervously.

"Ah! Good you're awake. Let's have a quick breakfast because we have to go to Frost Ford." He said.

"What? Why?" Scott asked, tilting his head.

"Your brother is there and injured."

"What?! Why is he all the way out there?"

"We don't know. But apparently Jaxon has gone a bit insane."

Scott looked down, hoping his brother was okay.

-

Scott and his family arrived at Frost Ford, where Jaxon's parents were trying to calm Jaxon and Xornoth down.

Xornoth was sitting silently, and Jaxon was pointing at him and shouting that he was a demon.

"What? What's going on?" Wallis asked sternly, standing up for Xornoth.

Jaxon's father sighed.

"The guards last night said that Xornoth and Jaxon were found unconscious in Jaxon's room and that they couldn't get the door open at first. They also heard Jaxon screaming and that it sounded like the two were fighting." He said.

"And do either of you remember what happened?" Wallis asked.

"Jaxon just keeps claiming that Xornoth was a demon." His brother said, sighing.

"He is! I saw it! I saw it with my own two eyes! He came in and threw me to the ground!" Jaxon shouted.

Wallis turned to Xornoth and kneeled down, putting his hand on Xornoth's shoulder.

"Son, I need you to be completely honest with me. What happened last night?"

"I- I can't remember." Xornoth said, tears forming in his eyes, "I- I remember falling asleep and having this weird dream where I was with Joey and fought Jaxon."

"That wasn't a dream, idiot." Jaxon muttered and his father shot him a glare.

"It might've been a dream." Wallis said, "But then how would they have both ended up here?"

"Ask Scott maybe he heard some of what Xornoth was doing." Jaxon said, and everyone turned towards Scott.

Scott's eyes widened.

"W-what?" He stuttered.

"Did you hear your brother maybe...escape the castle last night?" Jaxon's father asked.

"U-umm...I don't think so?"

"Well can you recite what happened last night?" Wallis asked.

Scott slowly nodded, "I- I was up in my room and I was having trouble falling asleep, so I was writing in my journal and then..." Scott tried to think about what he heard, "I heard the guard walking around the hall but then the footsteps had faded, and he had left to go switch with a different guard like they normally do."

"Anything else?" Jaxon's father asked.

"...I think I heard glass shatter but I- I don't know I can't remember very well. It was late."

The two fathers nodded and started to talk amongst themselves.

Xornoth was sitting there nervously, not paying attention, and Jaxon ushered Scott over.

"Soctt, you have to believe me." Jaxon whispered, "Your brother isn't who you think he is. He's a demon. He said he had a dream with Joey, so go ask him if he saw a demon or not. You'll see that your brother isn't normal, he isn't a prince."

Scott bit his lip and looked over at Xornoth.

"Trust me, Scott. Your brother is trying to kill us all."
