Scott's Perspective-
A couple of days earlier, Scott and his family had taken notice of the corruption growing around their palace. They had gotten rid of it but none of them expected to wake up the next day to have huge tentacles that circled Scott's tower.
Scott was moved to a different room for now to be kept safe. Guards were stationed around to see if they could catch the demon in the act of spreading corruption.
"He knows Scott's advancing in his powers and he's trying to take him down." Wallis whispered to Allison.
Scott sat outside their door, listening to what they were saying.
Allison sighed, worried to death for her sons.
"What are we supposed to do? We can't just sit here."
"I've been helping train Scott."
"I know you have, but he's still a child. He's not as strong as you could be. You've told me how weak he is after using his powers."
Scott sighed into his hands.
I wish I was stronger. I wish I wasn't such a failure. He thought, the negative thoughts circling his mind.
"He'll get there. It just takes time." Wallis said.
"We don't have much time. Those crystals around our empire could break any second and lava could consume everything."
"We're figuring out a way to take care of that. I believe in Scott, don't you?"
"Yes, of course I do, but- "
"Then I suggest you stop looking at the negatives and see how much good he can do." Wallis said sternly and Allison took a deep breath and nodded.
Scott heard them walk towards the door and he quickly ran off towards the library.
He sighed as he sat down on one of the chairs.
He rested his head on his folded arms and stared out the window.
The thought of his empire falling apart terrified him.
"Scott..."
Scott looked up and saw his father.
"Yes?" He whispered.
Wallis sat next to him and put his hand on his shoulder.
"What did you hear?"
Scott looked away and Wallis rubbed his back.
"I'm not going to be able to do this." Scott whispered, his voice shaking.
"What makes you think that?"
"I'm- I'm weak, dad. I'm going to face the demon and fail. Xornoth will be stuck forever and I- I can't do this." Scott cried.
He felt his father hug him and he hugged back, his antlers accidentally bumping Wallis' cheek.
Wallis chuckled quietly and rubbed circles on his son's back.
"I'm not strong enough." Scott cried, "I won't be able to do this."
"Yes, you can, don't say that."
"Dad, I can't. You know I can't. I'm weak. I- I'm such a failure." Scott tugged at his hair, just wanting to disappear.
Wallis stood up and Scott watched as Wallis walked towards the window.
"Dad?" Scott whispered, confused.
"Scott, you were chosen for this. You were made to do this. That means you can do this. But not without believing that you can be strong, that you can save your people, your brother. You're stronger than you know and give yourself credit for. When will you see yourself how I do?" Wallis turned towards his son and smiled at him through his tears.
"But- but- "
"We believe in you," He put his hands on Scott's shoulders, "We believe you can do this, because we love you."
Scott smiled and hugged his father, unaware of the cracking crystals above their empire.
