She has put sweat and anxiety into the long nights of the winter,
Each snowflake screaming its demands as it compresses the unstable floor,
And the core of the earth rumbles,
The snow shifts and builds, fills the skull
Freezes, expands, opens,
Blood and water pour for your wine,
You sip on the times of goosebumps at the sight of insufficiency,
But we were never creatures of competition until competition was hand-made and woven into our minds
We were never disciples until expectations were set by our own people,
We are stronger than our barriers,
But we are brainwashed to stay within them,
And our nights will always be buried in books and brokenness
