The night was oddly smooth, Sean actually wanted me to go to his exchange. I had called him following Melisa's advice to be a little warmer to him, but it was better than expected. We reached the port, we took Sean's car while his best buddy was following closely behind.

'So, because of many reasons, including what happened last time, you stay here with Ramirez gun at hand,,,Incase anything happens' he did not even stutter. I wanted to be closer to the action, but my mind was pre occupied with the thoughts from earlier that day. We set up in a building, a place high enough to see everything down below.
My thoughts went back to my current problems I had at hand. Melisa and I were hiding a secret from the world. A secret so mild, yet it would cause a hell of havoc if either Sean or Papi knew. The construction of a gun ranch in Costa Rica was underway and nobody but us knew that. I had been a proud Adam, inheriting everything from my father, wealth and business. He made it look easy, it wasn't. He had blood thirsty brothers and sisters who I knew ultimately after his death would gladly take over, with no one to fight for my rights. I needed a backup, so did Melisa. The fact that she was not family made her even more insecure. Our gun ranch in Costa Rica would be our legacy, because we would not stick around to find out how many people would die in the quest to inherit Papi.
Papi would not find out about the ranch because it would seem like we were betraying the family business. In many occasions, Papi had gladly announced that Melisa and I were the next leaders of the business, but we both knew better and kept that backup.

'Drink?' Ramirez pulled me out of my thoughts. I was aiming my gun, but I didn't even know to whom. My head was elsewhere.
'Hmm?' I asked pretending not to be startled by his question.
'Would you like a drink?' he asked holding out a bottle of beer.
'No thanks' I would not want that incident to repeat itself. The buyers arrived, they were five and I noticed that two had guns. Ramirez also observed them closely.
'So, when did you start calling me Vee' I asked after some silence.
'That night, you asked me to call you that, don't you remember?'he asked.
'I must have been crazy I suppose' I thought aloud, though I did not think I was that loud for him to hear.
'Yeah, from drowning to your drink to dancing with a stranger' he chuckled. My eyes widened. I had never seen him smile, let alone chuckle, now I was interested in the events of that night.
'Sean was mad, I was just surprised on how you did not react to how he handled the situation' he said. What situation? How did he handle it? Was he jealous or something? I was so damn curious, but just the thought of it made my cheeks flush pink.
'I geuss I was too drunk to react' I said trying to conceal how shocked I was at the revelation of this news.
'Of course,, you went to the bathroom and missed it. Though the shit you said to me in that bathroom made me see a whole different side of you' he said with amusement in his eyes. I mean how long was that night?

'Tell me, what did I miss?' at least he could offer that.
'He almost pulled the trigger on the poor guy for touching your ass'
Was it getting hot or did my body temperature rise a whole degree? He fought for me. He wanted to kill a guy for touching me. This was not just a flush of pink, I was turning red. That fact made my heart rate faster and my mind explode. But what did I say to Ramirez in the loo?
'Look, about what I said to you in the washroom' I started even though I did not know how I would complete that statement.
'Don't worry,' he interrupted to my relief, 'I won't tell Sean about it, well at least I haven't told him yet, I wouldn't want him to pull the trigger on me too would I?' he said with a smile, he looked like an angel. Now I was worried. What did I say? Before I could squeeze any more information from him, the exchange was over and the buyers left. Sean looked up to us and gave a thumbs up, assuring us that everything went according to plan.
'Great work Mrs Marteaz, and thanks for dinner' Ramirez said and left without another word. Well that was a shocking revelation, Sean actually fought for me? I realized that I was smiling at that thought and also took off immediately.
