Colby looked to his right, seeing his phone ringing and 'Sammy 🤍' popping up as the caller ID. He was currently at a bar with the rest of the roomates, which that Sam said no to going to as he was sick. The brunette felt bad leaving him alone when he was ill, but the blonde insisted that it was okay.

"Sam? Everything okay?" He says into his phone.
"H-Hey. I-Is anyone home right now?" Sam asks, his voice shakey.
"Other than you no? Why? What's wrong?" Colby responds, feeling concered.
"Uhm..."
"Sam? Talk to me. What's wrong?" The boys had begun to notice the concern on their friends face.
"I-I think someone's in the house" he whispers. Colby could feel the fear in his best friend's voice radiating through the phone. He pulls the phone away from his ear for a moment, looking up at the boys.

"Is everything okay?" Corey asks.
"We gotta go home, like now, right now. There's someone in the house" Colby says, urgency in voice. They all stood up, rushing out of the bar. He put the phone back to his ear, hearing soft sobs which broke his heart.

"Hey, hey Sam. It's okay, everythings okay. We're on our way back now, just stay quiet for me" he got into the passenger seat of the car, Aaron driving and Corey and Jake in the back.
"I-I'm scared Colby" he let out a stifled cry.
"Shh shh, its okay, we're coming home don't worry" he pulls the phone away again, turning to Corey. "Call the police." He then put the phone back up to his ear. "Where are you right now?"
"I-I'm in your closet" his blonde friend whispers back.
"Okay, we're almost home, just stay quiet" the line was silent for a while, the only sounds being Sam's quiet sniffles.
"Fuck. Colby... He's- he's coming upstairs!" Sam panics and begins to silently cry, shattering Colby's heart into pieces.
"Hey! Hey! Sam it's okay! I know you're scared but you have to be quiet. We're almost home, I promise you'll be okay." The line was silent again, but as Colby listened close, he could hear footsteps ands things clattering around. He also heard muffled yet heavy breathing and the occasional sound of stifled cries. The whole car was silent, tension filling the air.
"Where are you~" Colby heard a deep, sinister voice at the other end of the phone. He didn't dare say anything, afraid he might reveal his friends hiding place, but he could feel Sam's fear through the phone, he could hear his frantic breathing as he prayed that he wouldn't be caught.
"The police are there now" Corey tells Colby, and the brunette could feel the relief wash through his body.
"I know you're here" the voice says again, seeming closer. Colby swore he could hear the rapid beating of his best friend's heart.

He hears the the sound of police sirens as he drives up the street that the traphouse is on, finally spotting the house, which was surrounded by flashing police lights. He quickly rushed out of the car, sprinting to the front of his house.

Still listening into his phone, he hears his closet door being thrown open, and his best friend let out a cry of pure fear.  Colby genuinely felt his heart stop, his hand holding his phone, dropping to his side. Yet he could still hear Sam's screams for help coming through the phone. He began sprinting over to the first officer he saw.
"Sir! My friend, he's still in there. He needs help!" He begged for help. Just then, another officer walked out with a masked man in handcuffs, and right behind him, was another officer, his arm around the shoulders of the blonde.
"Sam!" The brunette screamed, running over to engulf his best friend into the biggest hug he had ever given anyone in his life.
"Oh my god..." the blonde sobbed into his chest. Colby could feel how much the poor boy was shaking, running fingers through his golden coloured hair.
"You're okay, I've got you, you're okay..." tears were brought to his own blue eyes as he held his best friend tightly in his arms, never wanting to let go.

He pulled away from the hug, placing his hands either side of the blonde tear-stained cheeks.
"Are you okay? Did he hurt you?" He bombarded him with questions of concern. The blonde smiled, his eyes glossy with tears.
"No, the cops got him before he could touch me" he said, relieving his younger best friend. The brunette pulled him into another hug, more sobs emitting from the blonde mouth. "I was so scared..." he choked.
"I know, I know Sam, I know. So was I. But you're okay now. You're safe; I've got you"
