Embracing Imperfection

In the shadow of her grace, I stand,
A mere observer, in awe of her grand,
She, the mother of all, so kind and true,
Her love like a diamond, shining through.

She cares for all, her heart so pure,
Spending her wealth, for love to ensure,
Clothes and shoes, for niece and nephew dear,
In her presence, all worries disappear.

I gaze up at her, a brilliant star above,
Guiding me with wisdom, pure love,
Her words, a beacon, I long to obey,
In her perfection, I find my only way.

Yet, in my heart, a small ache resides,
For talents I lack, where my spirit hides,
No singing, no dancing, no guitar's sweet sound,
I feel lost, in a world so profound.

I compare myself to cousins, so bright,
In their spotlight, shining light,
I yearn to be like them, the center of attention,
But in my own shadow, I find apprehension.

Guilt and self-hate, my constant companion,
For not meeting expectations, I am undone,
What if they never accept me, as I am,
In this turmoil, I feel like a lamb.

But in this struggle, a truth unfolds,
Acceptance and love, in their purest molds,
I am unique, with my own light to shine,
In my imperfections, a beauty divine.

So, I embrace myself, flaws and all,
In this journey, I stand tall,
For in the end, it's not about being another,
But about being me, my truest color.
