Ode to My Mother

In the cradle of life, you held me tight,
First teacher, guiding me through the night.
Your touch, a symphony of love so pure,
First hug, a sanctuary that will endure.

With each bite of food, your care did show,
First word spoken, from your wisdom it did flow.
Playmate in joy, in laughter, we'd engage,
First cook, your meals, a soulful page.

In your embrace, I learned to be strong,
Facing fear, in your arms, I belong.
Disappointment's sting, yet trust you instilled,
Laughter's echo, tears freely spilled.

Praised and scolded, lessons intertwined,
Hunger and fullness, in balance we find.
Pushed to grow, yet in your arms, I'd find solace,
Love's embrace, amidst life's fierce malice.

In your eyes, the journey of life I tread,
From hurt to love, where my soul is led.
In death's shadow, life's light anew,
You, my dearest, my life's truest view.

Now as you rest, in peaceful slumber's keep,
I'll carry your love, in my heart, so deep.
For you, my guiding star, my eternal flame,
In your name, I'll rise, never the same.
