Dad, my king, my shield, my all,
First to treat me like a princess in the hall.
Supporting me to school each day,
With bike rides, in every way.
Carrying me to rest on the couch,
In your arms, worries you'd douse.
From fever's grip to blood's fright,
First to seek help in the night.
Imperfect yet giving, to make us whole,
Teaching math with a determined soul.
Unfinished studies, no bother in sight,
You're our king, a guiding light.
But you also broke my heart,
Departed, leaving us apart.
Memories flood, of your last breath,
Waiting, fighting, facing death.
Legs releasing water, a painful sight,
Realization dawns, to let you take flight.
No hospital, no burden to bear,
Thinking of us, in your final prayer.
A promise made, to find a man like you,
A queen's treatment, love that's true.
Heart in pieces, memories flood,
Continuing the dream, in your blood.
Broken without you, yet we must go on,
Fulfilling your dreams, until the dawn.
