VENNY'S BLIMP
1777, JULY 15th, Friday 2:56pm.
Everything was spinning, two copies of each person rotated around each other, and Noche's face was growing paler with each passing second. Her head was throbbing, each moment a sledgehammer cracking her skull like an egg. Ants were crawling through her veins like they were their little burrows.
Her body aflame as if she was dunked in lava and a split second later it was frozen solid in a block of ice. Every single muscle was tense to the point where the fibers would rip. Her emotions kept changing like cards in a game of poker. Frustration, anxiety, anger, despair, but most prominent of all was fear.
That desert was before her. Not figuratively, but literally. Noche stood on the edge of the Chaos desert – it had to be crossed if she was to reach MoveCity, but the blonde couldn't bring herself to take one step closer than she already was.
She swallowed. Things were different this time. She had create, she had corruption, she had immortality. Noche was practically a demi-god with her collection of powers and abilities. Yet despite being able to destroy half the world in a single punch, cold beads of sweat continued to drip down her forehead.
Noche closed her eyes and it took all her concentration to avoid thinking about the endless plains of sand. Two months. It had taken two months after the wedding to get everything organized for the mission. During that time Noche had been training with Galloway to improve all her skills. From increasing her augment with multiple deaths, to getting faster with Limbo, and more precise with corruption.
Killing herself over and over to replenish her drive had become mundane. Boring even. Still, it had explosive results – her growth was insane. Almost as insane as she was becoming. Cause dying over and over again surely had no lasting consequences on her psyche.
Still, going from stressful scenario after scenario for two years straight was bad enough. Being forced to confront her worst trauma was starting to push her past the breaking point. Noche tried to take in some deep breaths to calm her nerves, but they came in too rapid and short.
She had to focus. Today was July fifteenth and the day the MoveCity mission would begin. All she needed to do was wait for the blimp to show up, take a calm ride toward the city, and not think about the fact that she was surrounded by endless sand during her entire stay there.
Teleporting would make things sooooo much easier, but Medusa had given the blonde strict orders to keep her V.I.Ps secret. The teleportation powers would cause problems for sure, the United Government would be in an uproar, but it would be insignificant compared to everyone learning she could use corruption.
Ever since the planet lance almost destroyed the world, corruption has been the most feared substance known to humankind. Medusa's exact words were anyone caught using it would be seen as one of the most dangerous threats alive. If the United Government found out Cross had a soldier who could use corruption, then the entire military would be labeled as treasonous.
So, if she was going to succeed in this mission she would have to stop a civil war from erupting without her special powers. Otherwise, she wouldn't be able to force Creeps to appear in the DeathTech army. If she couldn't predict where Creeps was, then there'd be a good chance it could beat her to the demi-plane at the center of the sun.
If Creeps got there first and ate the seal on the POE's powers, then Noche would fail to save everything. All of existence would quite literally be consumed by fear. So, preventing civil war in MoveCity was critical to stopping a disastrous domino effect.
