"Rosalie," Alisa stuck her head in the door,"I need you to get up, shower, and dress nice. We're having a guest over for dinner, and I think you'd like to look nice."

"Mom--"

"Rosie, please," Alisa pleaded,"You need to get your head back in the game. The only way you can feel better, and things can finally start getting better, is if you take this little step forward."

"So," Rosie sat up and brushed her messy hair away from her eyes with her hands,"is this guest your boyfriend?" She asked, causing the woman to laugh.

"Oh honey," Alisa shook her head,"I would never go for a man his age, but, speaking of boyfriends, he is close to your age, and he's very good looking..."

"Mom!" Rosie exclaimed, before sighing quietly,"I don't even think that's a choice for me anymore."

"Baby," Alisa walked over, and took a seat on the bed beside her daughter, "after everything you've been through, you deserve something happy,"She gave her daughter a sweet smile, and placed a gentle hand on the side of her face, "my sweet Rose, you deserve happiness, and if this guy turns out to be a part of that in the future, don't throw it away. Your father messed things up for you for so long, don't let him have another piece of your life."

"But he has a grip on my life," Rosie felt her eyes fill with tears,"He won't let me see them. He's been so mean to them since they were born. He had told me so many times that he had wished I'd been a boy, but it seemed boys weren't treated any better."

"Your father will never be a good father, rather he has a daughter or sons," She sighed,"but maybe he'll realize his mistakes soon."

"He told me, I was never allowed to contact them again. He said he'd...I can't let him hurt them."

"Get a shower," Alisa commented,"I need to get a start on food. Take your time, and let the shower clear your head."

Rosie simply nodded, before she went to her closet and grabbed some clothes. She then headed into the bathroom to get a shower. Like her mother told her, she took a long shower and cleared her head of all the negativity in her mind. She did still feel sad, but she was going to put a smile on her face to make everyone else think she was happy.

After her shower, she stepped out, dried off her body, and put on a bit of lotion. She hadn't taken care of herself correctly in days, and she knew she needed to do that. As soon as she finished putting on lotion, she took down her hair and used the blow dryer to dry and style it a bit, before slipping on her clothes.

"You look beautiful, sweetheart," Alisa complimented,"and I see the shower cleared up the dark bags under your eyes

"You look beautiful, sweetheart," Alisa complimented,"and I see the shower cleared up the dark bags under your eyes."

"When will he be here?" She asked, causing Alisa to smile softly.

"Soon," She replied,"He went to his sister's place, but he was coming here after."

"Can I help?" Rosie asked, biting her lip nervously, not wanting her mother to get mad at her.

"How about you make the kool-aid?" Alisa offered,"I remembered you liked it, and I remembered the flavor. I figured you could make it the way you like it."

"Kool-aid?" She questioned,"I thought you'd want some kind of alcohol or..."

"No, not tonight," The woman replied,"I wanted tonight to be all about you, but with a guest. I figure he'd like the kool-aid, too," She smiled lightly,"and next time we'll have wine or beer or whatever else you might want."

"I haven't really had any alcohol before," Rosie admitted,"Other than the couple of times Dad pretty much forced me to drink. He told me it'd make me feel better if I wasn't always so uptight."

"Well, you don't have to drink if you don't want to," Alisa said,"but if you want, I can take you out to a bar, and you can try a few different kinds of alcohol and drinks and see what you like and what you hate."

"You'd do that?" She asked, and Alisa nodded.

"Of course," She replied,"also, I was hoping that soon I could introduce you to the guy I've been talking to recently. He's really great, and I think you'd like him. I've told him about you, and he wants to meet you. He doesn't know everything yet, but he knows your dad did take you away from me and wouldn't let me see you. He doesn't want me to tell him everything that happened that you told me, he wants to hear it from you, whenever you get comfortable."

"Is he your...boyfriend?"

"Well, we haven't really put labels on it, but yeah," The woman nodded,"I'd say he's my boyfriend. I just — I really like him, but if you don't, I'll stop seeing him."

"Mom, you can't do that," Rosie murmured,"You deserve to be happy, and you shouldn't let anyone, not even me, decide ant of it for you."

"I never got to have a relationship like this with you while you were growing up," Alisa sighed,"So, I want your opinion on the man, because if you don't like him, I don't want that to be the reason you leave, and I don't see you again," She said, her voice breaking because of the emotion she was feeling.

"That would never happen," Rosie stated,"but I promise to give this guy a real chance, for you, because I want to see you happy, Mom."

Alisa walked around the kitchen counter, and wrapped her arms around Rosie. She truly loved her daughter, and was so happy that the girl was finally living with her, even though she was a grown up. Rosie was happy to be with her mother as well, considering she went through her childhood without her around. She just wished it could've been a lot sooner...
