About ten minutes before six, there was a knock at the door. Alisa knew that her daughter was nervous about the guest, so she decided to open the door for him. She didn't want to make her daughter do it, because she knew she would get nervous and possibly anxious enough that she'd slam the door in his face by accident.

"I-I'm not too late, am I?" The man asked,"I told Maddie that I was coming over here for dinner, and she insisted that I needed to bring something. I told her that you were making the food and dessert, but she still insisted, so she made brownies and sent them with me so I wouldn't show up empty handed." He rambled, and the older woman simply smiled.

"You're not late, don't worry, you've still got ten minutes until six actually," She replied,"Come in, and just set those on the counter over there."

Buck did as he was told with the brownies, then he allowed a almost nervous, awkward smile to appear on his face.

"Buck, this is my daughter, Rosalie," Alisa motioned to the girl,"and Rosie, this is Evan Buckley, he lives across from us."

The moment Buck placed his eyes on the girl, he felt his heart skip a beat. The girl was absolutely beautiful, and if he was still a self-diagnosed sex addict like he had been before, he would've wasted no time in trying to get her to sleep with him. He wasn't like that anymore, and he refused to go back to being that way. The girl was gorgeous though, but he could see the sadness in her eyes. He desperately wanted to ask her what was making her sad, and make it his mission to fix it, but he couldn't do that. The girl barely knew him, and he didn't want to come off as creepy or make her sad by just asking a question like that.

"Uh, I-I'm Buck, everyone calls me Buck." He said, sticking out his hand for her to shake.

"Call me Rose or Rosie," The beauty replied,"nice to meet you, Buck." She added, finally placing her hand in his.

Her hand was so soft, and her touch was feather light, but she had a firm grip. He almost didn't want to let her hand go, but he knew that would make things awkward and uncomfortable. She was just so pretty, and he felt like there was no way he wouldn't mess up somehow.

Alisa felt a smirk appear on her face, simply from the interaction between Buck and Rosie. She knew that Buck would be good for Rosie, and Rosie would be good for Buck. The two had so many issues and hardships that they could honestly write a book about it, but Alisa felt like this was the way they could help each other. Besides, she knew they were both beautiful people, and beautiful people were meant to be together, and not to get her hopes up, but beautiful people made beautiful babies...not that she wanted Buck and Rosie to rush into any of that anytime soon. There was still so much Rosie had to do, and so much they had to learn about each other.

"Why don't you two go sit in the living room and get to know each other," Alisa gently nudged them out of the room,"while I finish dinner."

Rosie silently brought Buck over to the living room area, and they both sat down on the rather spacious couch.

"So, what is it that you do?" Rosie asked, wanting to get rid of the awkward tension in the air.

"I'm a firefighter," Buck replied,"I work with the 118. Y'know, maybe I could bring you to meet them one day. They're good people."

"Being a firefighter is dangerous, isn't it?" She asked, and he nodded.

"It can be, but I'm careful. I've only been hurt a few times, and those weren't too major."

"Do you have any crazy stories from working?"

"Y-yeah, plenty. Actually, I've got a couple that I can tell that were really kind of insane," He chuckled to himself,"My friend, Chimney, he's also works with the 118; he got into an accident, and he had a piece of rebar go through his head. It was insane, and he lived. He had to get it removed, but after it was removed, he didn't have any permanent damage."

"That's insane." She murmured, shaking her head slightly in shock.

"Yeah, oh, and recently the firehouse was given brownies and fudge and stuff, and they were drugged. So, Eddie, Hen, Cap, and I were out of it. Everything was so... different. I remember everything that happened, but it was still, almost like a dream that I had a first person view of."

"Oh god," She looked at him with wide eyes,"There wasn't any bad effects later, was there? You guys didn't get hurt?"

"No, we were all good. Eddie cried, and Hen was all sweet, which was weird. We weren't with Cap, not that I remember. Me, I was joking around a lot, and for some reason, I was very protective of Eddie, but I know it's because he's my best friend, I just think it was a little weird for me to do while drugged." He rambled, laughing slightly.

"I guess you've learned not to eat anything that's brought to the firehouse." She commented, making him smirk.

"You'd think that, but no," He replied,"If someone brings in desserts, we're probably going to eat them. I mean, we're very busy firefighters, we don't have time to really cook all the time. Besides, who passes up on free food?" He joked, causing her to laugh.

"Yeah, I guess you're right," She nodded, "Maybe I'll make you something, just don't expect them to be too fun, I'm not making pot brownies or anything." She commented jokingly, and Buck let out a loud laugh.

Buck really liked this girl, and if all went well, he'd hopefully get to see more of her...
