Wonwoo

Pretty sure if I ate another bite I would explode, but damn it was good. I wasn't exactly sure what I'd eaten beyond the pasta, red sauce, and shrimp, but I fully understood why this restaurant was such a success. The chef was a master at creating delicious food.

"Did you get enough to eat?"

I chuckled as I rubbed my stomach. "Yes, but do you think they make to-go orders? I could get peckish later." Assuming later was next week. I don't think I could eat again before then.

Mingyu's lips twitched. "We can ask."

"Naw." I waved a hand at him. "That might spoil the mystique of this place. Besides, if I want something special, I can call Carmen."

"I'm sorry. Carmen?"

"Oh." That reminded me. I pushed my plate off to one side and leaned forward. "How do you feel about having a live-in cook and housekeeper?"

"Uh, well, I guess I've never really thought about it. I'm pretty self-sufficient and I tend to cook for myself. Why?"

"Carmen Garcia is my parents' cook and housekeeper. She pretty much raised me. She's the sweetest woman on the planet and I've been trying to convince her to move to New York with me since I left home. If I'm married, and we're both working, I think I could talk her into it. If you're okay with it."

"Is this something you really want?"

"I want to get Carmen away from my parents. She's the closest thing I have to a real mother. She was the one who kissed my booboos and made sure I went to bed on time. She helped me with my homework and—"

Mingyu held up his hand to stop me. "Wonwoo, you don't have to sell me on this woman. If having her in New York with us makes you happy, then we'll see about finding a place big enough for all of us."

My heart fluttered with sheer joy. "Really?"

"Wonwoo, I want you to be happy. I want us to be happy, preferably together. If having this woman there makes you happy, I'll buy her a damn plane ticket."

Mingyu sighed when I grinned, which was a weird reaction, but whatever. He was agreeing to send for Carmen and that was all I cared about. I worried about her every day that she was in that household. I wanted her with me where I could make sure my father wouldn't ship her back to her home country like he had her brother.

"You about ready to get out of here?" Mingyu asked.

"Yeah, I guess I am."

Mingyu called for the check and then handed the waiter his credit card and paid for our meals. After I stood, Mingyu grabbed my arm and looped it through his once again, kind of like he had when we arrived, and then walked us back through the restaurant.

"So, what's it going to be?" he asked as we walked out to our waiting limousine. "Consort? Casino? A club?"

"Maybe a cas..." My words trailed off when my attention was caught by two people coming out of the hotel down the street. I probably wouldn't have noticed if one of them hadn't been wearing a white suit.

"Wonwoo?"

I grabbed Mingyu and yanked him down beside the limo. "It's Wooshik."

"Where?" he asked as he popped back up and looked over the top of the limo.

"Get down," I whispered sharply as I tugged at his sleeve.

"Hold on." Mingyu grabbed his cell phone and held it over the top of the limo, taking several pictures before ducking back down. He reached over and opened the door before the driver could. "Get in."
