Wonwoo

"Well, that's the last of them."

I set the cardboard box down next to the door for the movers to pick up. Mingyu and I had spent the last few days packing my apartment and getting everything ready to move. When it came right down to it, it was kind of amazing how much stuff I'd been able to squeeze into my two-bedroom apartment.

I had a lot of crap.

"Did you have any problem breaking the lease?" Mingyu asked.

I blinked at him in confusion. "Lease?"

What lease?

"I own the building."

Mingyu's eyebrows lifted. "You do?"

I nodded. "It seemed like the thing to do at the time."

I hadn't wanted to deal with having a landlord. Buying the building and then hiring a property management place to deal with the other tenants seemed like the easiest thing to do.

"So, what are you going to do with it?"

I shrugged. "The property management place will rent it out for me."

I didn't make tons of money on the place, but it was enough to take care of all the maintenance costs and property management fees and still put a little away in savings.

I was not a real estate tycoon by any stretch of the imagination. I had just wanted a place to call home without dealing with all that crap that went with being a renter in New York City.

"Do you think I should sell the place?"

"Do you want to?" Mingyu countered. "It seems like a pretty nice neighborhood and it's a really nice place. I'm sure you could get a bundle for it if you decide to sell it. On the other hand, because it is in a nice neighborhood and it's a nice place, it could be a good long-term investment."

When I frowned and glanced around, unsure of what I wanted to do, Mingyu stepped over and pressed a hand to my face. "You don't have to make that decision right this second, Wonwoo. You can let the property management company deal with it for now, see how it goes, and if you decide you want to sell the place later on, you can do that. There's no hurry."

"Yeah, let's do that."

I just wasn't quite ready to give the place up. It wasn't like I planned to come back here, not when I wanted to spend the rest of my life living in that gorgeous condo with Mingyu, but this had been my first real home away from my family. It meant something to me.

"The movers will be here in a couple of hours to take everything to the apartment. What do you say we go and get some of that delicious smelling bread from the bakery downstairs and then go to Central Park and feed the ducks?"

I snorted. "Screw the ducks. I want some of that bread for myself."

Freshly baked bread from that bakery was pure gold.

Mingyu chuckled. "I'm sure they have bags of duck bread."

I wasn't sure that was an actual thing, but as long as I got some of whatever was making that delicious smell, I didn't care. That stuff was the bomb!

After doing one more walk-through to make sure I had packed everything, I walked to the front door where Mingyu was standing. "I guess this is it."

"Are you okay, love?" Mingyu asked. "We can live here if that's what you really want."

I smiled as I shook my head. "No, but thank you for the offer." That went a long way toward making me feel a little better. "This was my first place, you know? I bought it when I got my first patent and made a contract with Jake's company."
