After receiving the note, the very first thing that Brody did was call his friends in a wild panic, messaging his sister several times until she had to reply with an irritated 'I heard u the first time'.
Beside him, Raleigh attempted to rationalise, "Maybe it's a sick joke."
"Like Mali was?" Brody retorted, his voice damn near hysterical.
Jake was the first to arrive, taking in Raleigh's dorm room as he stepped inside — it was a relatively spacious place, with a System of a Down poster hung above his bed, though his attention was soon called to the terrified man on the other bed.
"What happened?" Jake asked.
Before Raleigh could answer, Eilidh arrived, with Manuela and Amrit in tow. Brody instantly got up and threw his arms around his sister's form in relief, which she instantly wriggled away from.
"What's up with you?" she asked.
Brody sighed shakily, "I was worried."
"Where's Willa?" Manuela wondered.
As if on cue, her girlfriend appeared, though her dishevelled look and slightly unbuttoned blouse didn't do much to fill her with comfort — she forced her gaze downward, her eyes burning.
"Sorry, I was studying." Willa was obviously lying, something Manuela had never thought she was particularly good at.
She understood their arrangement, the relationship boundaries and yet she still felt a wave of jealousy and resentment at the other woman's look.
Brody spoke up shakily, "Someone sent me a note threatening Eilidh."
"What are you talking about?" Willa's face twisted in confusion.
Amrit demanded calmly, "Let me see."
"It was under my door." Brody stated, handing him the photographs and note, "I think it's whoever put the photos in my locker yesterday." his breath trembled, "What if it's the killer?"
Amrit's gaze scanned the note and he stated, "It isn't."
"What?" Eilidh cocked an eyebrow, "How can you be so sure?"
Amrit replied simply, "The handwriting is different from the other note, the one we all received. That was in block capitals, this is a little more cursive."
"Are you sure?" Brody asked desperately.
Amrit nodded, "Trust me, I'm good with calligraphy and these two notes were not written by the same person."
"Then who'd want to threaten me?" Eilidh queried, sitting on the bed.
Amrit replied, "Someone who clearly doesn't want Brody investigating the murders. Perhaps it's whoever leaked it to the school."
"That handwriting..." Manuela narrowed her eyes, "It's a little familiar. Can't put my finger on it, though."
Brody's tone took on an aggressive inflection, "Well, when I found out who did it, I'm gonna tear them to pieces!"
"Calm down," Willa commented, "the last thing this campus needs is the Incredible Hulk storming around."
Brody explained, "They threatened my sister."
"I get that, but we have to be rational, not lose our heads." she smiled at him weakly, "C'mon, you still have a dance to plan, don't you?"
Brody huffed, "God, just thinking about that when all this shit is happening is exhausting."
"I know, baby." she took his hand and brought it to her cheek, "But I'm just trying to take your mind off it."
Brody smiled weakly, "Thanks, Will."
