"this is not so bad"

Shadow remained unamused by his sudden invitation, he was hesitating whether to decline or accept it since he has nothing better to do, his eyes wandered around the ground thinking for a moment before glancing at the plastic bag the blue hedgehog was carrying

"C'mon, it's only for a moment besides we don't hang around that much" sonic spoke with a grin on his face waiting for his answer

"I would probably go insane if l hang around with you all day" shadow replied, he sighs and nodded his head giving him a sign that he's agreeing on joining him

"Yes! Finally some company!" Sonic cheered in excitement as his emerald eyes lit up and ears perked up at the same time when he nodded his head

"You're so immature as always" shadow spoke as he rolled his eyes at the blue hedgehog's reaction from his answer

Shadow's POV
'This is dumb, hanging out with my rival so late at night' l thought to myself while we both walk towards a hill, l took a glance at him and saw his smile hasn't disappeared, is he that happy? Why? Is he stupid? Of course he is.

"Shads, wanna race?" I snapped out from my thoughts and immediately look away when he spoke, breaking the silence between us

"I-" before l could finish my sentence, the fool dashed away towards the hill at a quick speed, l stood there for a second before dashing after him, l was close behind him then slowly closing the gap between us

Hearing his laughter is annoying but it somehow distracted my mind from my thoughts about the dream l have been having. Before l knew it l was slowly smiling at him

Sonic's POV
Was l dreaming? Or is he smiling? What a sight to witness, he rarely smiles at me. I watch as his lips slowly form into a small smile while he look at me then back to the path towards the hill

'he should keep smiling, he looks pretty with it' l thought to myself, l wasn't expecting to see him so late at night and moreover hanging out with me, l didn't think he would agree to it when he usually rejects anything l ask him

"This is not so bad after all" l whispered with a grin and kept running with him til we got to the hill

Author's POV
Both the boys reached to their destination and sat down on the grass with a face of satisfaction, they both ate some snacks sonic brought as they stared at the night sky, watching the stars lit up like fireflies with the moon

Both of them shared a peaceful silence with only the sound of the crickets can be heard from the background, slowly they laid down on the grass while shadow close his eyes enjoying the peaceful moment

Sonic's eyes move to glance at the other hedgehog besides him, he notice the small smile he saw earlier disappeared. Sonic smiled warmly at him listening to the sound of shadow's breathing

"This is not so bad" Sonic's eyes widen slightly as shadow spoke with his eyes remained closed
