CHAPTER 11

MR. MYSTERY

Me wanting to knock the living daylights out of Collin would have been an understatement. He woke us up with his annoying whistle at 7A.M!! It should be illegal for people to wake up that early.

"I want to torture him to death by keeping him awake for atleast a month!" I said out aloud, lazily dragging the covers off of me. The cold breeze hit me and I instantly regretted my action, wanting to crawl back to the warmth of my bed.

"It's not the poor boy's fault. He's just following orders and stop being so morbid Denise." Cady laughed stretching out her arms in the air.

"How are you so fresh at 7A.M?"

"How are you not?" she fired back.

"I'm not an early riser?" I said raising an eyebrow.

"Yes let's all believe that" with that she disappeared in the bathroom to get ready.

What was that supposed to mean anyway? Though I didn't press the topic further, it still bothered me a bit but I decided to drop it anyway. I walked over to the closet to decide on my today's outfit. 20 minutes after rummaging through my clothes I decided on a peter pan collared white shirt which had little black hearts printed all over it and jean shorts. Cady had already taken a shower and was all dressed up lounging on the bed reading a magazine. Since Coach would summon us all downstairs in a few minutes, I hastily took a shower and got dressed up. I let my hair down to air dry. Applying on some eyeliner, I pulled a hair tie over my wrist incase it got hot outside.

As if on cue, Coach blew the whistle on our floor just as I was about to step outside the room. Everyone shuffled out of their respective rooms and huddled in the narrow hallway. While Coach carried on with the usual attendance, I scanned over the small crowd for Derrick but he was nowhere in sight. Maybe he was still sleeping and no one bothered to wake him up. No that couldn't be it.

"Derrick Sutter" Coach called out his name.

"Here" He spoke from behind me making me gasp in surprise.

I turned around glaring at him.

"Looking for me Deni?" he said in a teasing tone.

"Pssht No! I was looking for...Ryan!"

His eyebrows furrowed in response.

"I was looking for him because I'm still a bit paranoid about last night." I said quickly covering up the lie.

"You had me there for a second but next time you decide to lie, check who's standing infront of you" He smirked at me.

I covered my flaming hot cheeks with both of my hands and groaned in response as I saw the familiar mop of hair standing infront of me. How can I be so stupid! I knew Derrick falling for my lame story was too good to be true.

Coach cleared his throat efficiently grabbing everyone's attention. "I hope everyone has their phone's fully charged because you all are going to be recording every word the guide says. The reason you all have to record is because the place we'll be visiting today has little light. Any guesses on today's location?"

Coach's question was met with silence. He sighed dramatically and muttered something like 'teenagers these days' and rephrased his question.

"The person to guess today's location will get a prize"
