Echoes in The Crowd

In the heart of laughter, where joy should reside,
I wander through shadows, though friends by my side.
Their voices are like music, a harmonious blend,
Yet silence within me, no comfort to lend.

In gatherings of many, I stand not alone,
But the whispers of loneliness carve into bone.
Smiles surround me, like stars in the night,
Yet darkness persists, obscuring the light.

They speak of adventures, of dreams brightly spun,
But my heart feels the weight of a thousand tons.
Their stories like rivers, with currents so swift,
Yet I float on the surface, unable to drift.

In the midst of the many, I still feel the cold,
An outsider in circles, a story untold.
Their hands reach to hold me, their warmth to bestow,
Yet inside I am drifting, where none ever go.

Their laughter, a symphony, a chorus so grand,
Yet I stand in the echoes, apart from the band.
Their closeness a beacon, a light meant to guide,
But my soul feels the distance, no matter how wide.

In the heart of the crowd, where life seems so loud,
I wear the same mask, though my spirit is bowed.
For friends cannot fill what is hollow and deep,
A chasm within me, where shadows still creep.

So I walk with my friends, through days and through nights,
In search of a solace that eludes my sights.
For though they are many, and their love is true,
The loneliness lingers—a ghost in the blue.
